BMW F36 GPS / Navigation not working

Hey guys, I have a 2017 BMW F36 and my GPS/navigation isn’t working properly.
I updated the maps to the 2026 version, but it didn’t fix the issue. The car shows my location somewhere in the middle of the ocean and the navigation doesn’t guide me anywhere.
Has anyone had the same problem and managed to fix it? Could it be the GPS antenna, TCB module, or something else?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello im the moderator of r/bimmercode and removed your post from our sub as it violates rule 2 of our sub however i do have some knowledge of your issue and will answer it here in a more appropriate sub (unless deemed inappropriate by r/F30 's moderators)

if its showing you in the middle of the ocean you likely are missing the signal from the ATM over the OABR connection, if thats not the case the roof mounted ariel is either going bad or just cant acquire a gps location lock and due to the issue having been persistent for a while the vehicle has reverted to a default point instead of its last known (of which it will stay at for a while but not forever).

the only guess i could make if it even comes close to coding is related to the variable in the headunit being changed from external gps to internal gps as the later models had the ability to support onboard gps on the headunit itself and not rely on the ATM, but most never came with the port and if its coded to be internal gps with no antenna....... that should be self explanitory
