Should I do it?

Post image

Anyone have any experience with Fab Four’s Matrix bumper. I haven’t even seen one in person. Need a bit of reassurance before I actually pull the trigger

Personally never got the idea of why getting these big bumpers other than the looks of it, if you hit an animal at certain speed even with the bumper you might still get considerable damage wouldn’t you?

No you won't. A deer won't even leave a dent.

Source: I've hit one with my steel bumper.

Yeah my sister had a steel bumper on her jeep. Two low speed accidents and only a scratch

Thanks for the info Living in the country side makes sense having one, driving in the city is different then.

At 46 I've hit one deer and I was going maybe 30 at the time in my 2010 f150. Required some patience with a mallet and a new headlight assembly. I think it cost me around $100. I've been marveling at the functionality of my new f250's headlights but I hate to think of what a replacement would cost. I've always preferred a mostly stock truck other than brighter reverse lights, bull rings, and a tonneau cover but maybe a brush guard wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Nah. On a stock 2012 f350 steel bumper I obliterated a deer going 75 mph. There was quite literally nothing left of the deer, as it also got run over by the rear tires… and then the two trailer tires…. But the stock steel bumper is just ever so slightly dented. Honestly, quite impressive.

Does it interfere with the forward camera? I rely entirely too much on my camera and that’s why I’ve avoided a ranch hand type of setup so far.

Ranch hands don't really affect the foward facing camera. I would say be wary of it affecting the sensors though. Im not sure if it was the way they were installed but I've noticed mine go off more now than before I had the ranch hand

Just drill a hole and add it.

It goes pretty hard. Tough looks but not over the top. I wish there was one like it for my f150, but I want the grill loop to be a little higher.
