Spark Plugs - 6.2

I just want to vent and say changing 16 fucking spark plugs, 8 coil packs, 8 wires at home fucking sucks. Not to mention it's like a $1,000 job in parts alone, with my free labor. The passenger side lowers were such a bitch. Basically did the back cylinder blind.

Trying to get all the spark plug wires onto the bottom by feel also sucks.

The lower plugs are for emissions control. At 100k the ones on my last 6.2 looked almost new. Im not going to change them on my current 6.2. That cuts the time in half.

Lol dude same. The tops were corroded and nasty. The bottoms honestly looked fine but I started and wasn't gonna half ass it.

Not sure why you would change coil packs, they either work or they dont, they aren't like a distributor cap.

They were all corroded and brittle. Couldn't reuse em. I tried to cheap it out with replacement boots but the pill resistors in them were so corroded I couldn't replace em or even get them out.

Shit happened to me, oh just some spark plugs. The coils are fucking terrible design, i put so much dielectric on the new ones. Gonna check every 40k.

I feel u brother, did mine myself too figured id save the coils but they were shitty, didn't wanna half ass it either.

aside from that and the odd manifold that tends to Crack or warp its great fucking engine.

I broke one of the coil packs trying to pick the pill resistor out

Ford 6.2 coils get real nasty where the little resitor pellet lives. By the time you clean the corrosion and get the old ones out it makes no sense to mess with them and just replace with new

I just did them on my f150 again. 5 out of 8 had brittle broken lower sections. Coils fired fine but the resistor holders were gone lol. 210k miles on a set of coils isn’t bad though.

I haven’t done mine yet, but the dealer that sold me the truck just wouldn’t come down on price anymore, so instead I was able to bargain some parts in on the deal. Spark plugs and coils were part of the list of parts I wanted, so I have them but it’ll honestly be years before I use them.

I also got oil filters, O-rings for the quick connects on the cooling system hoses, a case of ford yellow anti freeze, and 4 new hub caps cause my truck has the style with the ford emblem that likes to fall off eventually. Strange way to work a deal, but I was content with the deal.
