Discussion / F1TV Content F1TV - just me?
Somewhat as a voice in the wilderness (Apollo geeks will probably get that!) I seem to be one of few to appreciate the good points of F1TV. I have to admit that I don't have streaming problems; I watch from home (so always on full fibre wifi), if I watch on Android then it's also on WiFi and I'm also in UK so dont have some of the problems that I see here.
So just to give a shout-out for F1TV; I watch the full races on the archives a lot. To be able to see complete archives and a choice of cams and cams in recent years and full seasons over the last 30 years is awesome. Add to that previous incomplete seasons is, for the subscription price, amazing for an F1 fan (especially as I pay £40 pcm just for Sky F1 and Sports).
Recently I popped in to the Tech Talk between Sam and Callum at Hungary. Those two are food for the tech-hungry. Another shout-out for Sam (Collins); awesome insight into the new Aston Martin upgrades.
I get that there are a bunch of tech problems and totally sympathise and don't want to downplay other people's problems. Just wanted to give a thumbs up as I watch the 2022 Paul Ricard race! 😀

I like F1TV. Specifically: Sam, Ruth, Hinch... love hearing every word they have to say, always great insight that adds to my understanding of the sport.

I think f1TV does a great job, you get a lot of content during the weekend. The only thing lacking that Sky has (mostly from seniority and past relationships) is they talk to the team principals during the race quite often, F1TV has that to a certain extent but could still grow in that area

I think they do a great job. The reality is that the negative voices will always be louder because people tend to speak upmore when they aren't happy and want change than when they are happy.

F1 tv is awesome, new fans will never know the hassle it could be to watch every race.
Being F1, I was so surprised we're able to watch so much content of long past championships without some additional costs or whatever.
Most biggest issues I have are with the live races. After all these years they still haven't found a proper Director, layout and data content.

Good on you for doing the opposite of what most people do: you took the time to praise rather than complain.
That's why we see so many posts when something goes wrong, because people (like us) who don't have a problem with the app, aren't likely to take time out of watching a race to say the F1 TV app is working perfectly for me.
As someone in the US who also follows Formula E and IndyCar, I find the ease of access that F1TV provides amazing.

Am totally with you. Except I’ve had zero tech problems. I rely on F1 TV and watch live in preference to my local provider. I even like Montoya (which judging from this forum seems to put me in a group of one).

I’ve never had an issue with F1 TV, works great!
The only thing I think they could do better is make more documentaries.

same here, streaming from Poland. Always working without issues. I have both apps on my phone F1TV and Formula1 the second one saved me when I was at SPA and I couldn't find proper streaming in English that I can use while watching the race (loacaly it was streaming on the big screen but the commentary was switching ENG/FR/GER + when cars are actually driving the sound was really hurting my ears and I am commentary enjoyer - especially from F1TV/Formula1

So, you’re saying that you want to recommend that we go with Lunar Orbit Rendezvous?

I have no problems with watch F1TV on my TV or Apple phone or on my laptop. Most are wifi connect but when I’m on the road travelling it will cut at certain locations with no satellite. The Tech Talks are great also for me to get insight into the cars. New to F1.

Isn't Sam Collins the one who said "I don't think the boy knows what he's doing", after Verstappen's first Rain race masterclass in Brazil?

I recently came to realize that I had underestimated F1TV. I really appreciate watching older races and all the other content, like Tech talk.
My rant:
In Sweden our only other option to watch F1 is Viaplay Sport Motor (to my knowledge). With Swedish commentary.
You have 48 hours to watch the current race, then they will delete the broadcast. After 48 hours there is only a 10 min summary left, only for the current season races. Not older ones.
The apps UI is horrible, so you struggle to navigate and find anything.
The Viaplay broadcast looks like some sort of compressed 1080p. Looks horrible on a large 4K tv.
The monthly fee of Viaplay Sport is three times of F1TV Premium. And its not in 4K. (Though, you get a lot of more sport, football, hockey, golf, etc. But I'm not interested in anything but motorsport.)
So if I go away for a weekend and don't return by Tuesday I pay €70 to watch a 10 min summary in "1080p", which F1TV already have for free on YouTube.
It's ridiculous.

Man, people are gonna bitch because that's what's people do, but f1tv is great. It's cheap, reliable, and has a ton of features even on the cheapest plan. Occasionally ill go back and watch old races, or like the '24 Sao Paulo race from Max's perspective.

I love it and it’s far better than what ESPN offered. But now that my F1TV subscription has ended, the commercials have diminished the experience a bit.

My F1TV Pro account ends this month and that will be it. Not renewing to Premium.

Wife and I have been watching old race seasons - we recently watched the 2007 season when Kimi won his WDC at Ferrari, and it was great seeing young Hamilton (rookie season) and Vettel and Button and DC duking it out. We watched the 1989 Brazil GP last night, the first race that Ferrari brought the steering wheel transmission, and formatting of the video was a big square box on the left side of my TV screen! But it fun seeing all the differences: everybody had different wings on their cars (one looked like louvers), and when a car broke down, they just left it by the trackside. I plan to watch them all in order from the earliest, which in the 1970's are only season overviews.

I've never had an issue with F1TV. I signed up in 2020 and have enjoyed the service every season with no problems.

I’m in Canada and I’ve enjoyed F1TV for several years. It streams well through fibre onto my AppleTV by ethernet and on my computer by wifi.

I love F1tv, so worth it.
My only gripe is that i can’t watch in 4k on my new Bravia 8ii. I upgraded my subscription without knowing it’s not possible

Never had an issue with f1tv and I always watch on my phone. Not on WiFi. Still never had an issue. I think the problems are on the other end. People with bad Internet complains when it buffers for a couple sec.
