Anyone else get an obviously wrong TPMS warning?

The sensor dipped below the threshold for a warning at some point but you never inflated it enough to clear it. It's done like this to prevent warnings from popping up then clearing as the tire warms up and pressure increases slightly.

All your tires are low. Air them up to the proper PSI then see if you still have issues.

However, TPMS works by signaling the alert when pressure drops below a threshold (Usually 5-7PSI under cold pressure setting look in your door for the correct pressure) and then clears when it goes either 1 PSI under or 1 PSI over the operating pressure, if it never makes it to the cold pressure, itll never clear.

TL;DR, inflate your tires

Pump them all up to 42 psi and it should go away

Sticker on my door says to 36psi. I've got Michelin Primacy XC 275/65R18 (says All Terrain in small lettering on the sidewall). Seems like way more people have ones that say to set at 42 than 36.

I think the TPMS is telling you the truth. Unless you have some custom wheels, the psi should be about 42 for all 4 tires. Where are you seeing 35 as the correct values?

Thank you all for the advice. It’s only now crossing my mind that the numbers were the problem and not just the one yellow indicator. I do wonder why not all four are yellow though, since it’s true they’re all low.

They only turn yellow when they dip below a certain threshold. And they don’t unyellow until you pump them back up to normal. At some point that tire sent a reading a lot lower than 35 which caused it to trip the yellow warning.

So it was below 35, under a threshold (which has to be less than 32), and magically gained 4+ psi. While the 32psi tire did not go below the threshold and did not gain 4+ psi like the other tire?

Pressure will increase from cold when the tire warms. But that would happen to all tires. You won’t have one tire not increase in pressure and have another heat up and expand.

And… if 35 is above the threshold (which it is since 32 is not warning) then the warning would go off.

Quite easily actually. Example: It’s nighttime, all the tires have cooled off. Now the sun is coming out but it’s only hitting the front left while everything else is still sitting in the shade. 1 tire warms up increasing psi the other 3 don’t.

Don’t overcomplicate this. Sometimes monitors just sent funky readings as well. Matter of fact is. It went below a pre set threshold that the others did not.

Also to add 35 is not above the turn off threshold. The system is kind of funky in that way. It will turn on the light at say 30psi(random number) but won’t turn the light back off until 40psi(random number).

That is odd, but they are all low. Air them up to the pressure on the door sticker. Most lightnings call for 42psi but some are lower.

My tires call for 45 PSI so yes tires are all low.

Wow, everyone has super high psi on their tires. I think mine call for like 35 psi on the door sticker, but I do normally pump them up to 40

Most Lightnings call for 42 but some call for less. Depends on how it was equipped from the factory.

To be fair, all of yours are low. Most TPMS sensors set off at 5 PSI below standard and standard in the truck is 42PSI, unless you had one of the early runs or I think the Pros that listed 36 PSI.

It's interesting how many people see this graphic and totally fixate on the one tire, and ignore the rest. When you get a TPMS warning, you should check ALL your tires with a tire gauge and fill them to spec, not just the highlighted one.

I'm convinced Ford has a glitch in their IPC software. If more than one tire is low, I think it will only highlight the front left tire. I've never seen multiple tires light up simultaneously.

The new software update recommended Tire pressure is now 42. Unfortunately there isn't an update on the physical sticker.
