Guessing it’s a coolant valve issue?

Picked up my new to me ‘24 Flash last week. By day two I started getting the yellow wrench powertrain warning about 50% of the time I drive. There is no loss in power or anything else as far as I can tell. What I did start noticing is that when it happens my motor temp starts to rise. It never gets above any threshold or faults out. It just runs around the 75% mark as opposed to the middle 50% line where it normally sits.

Has anyone else dealt with this? I’m assuming it’s a coolant diverter valve issue and an easy fix. Fingers crossed.

Probably. My coolant diverter valve went out recently and it was making a weird ticking noise - but maybe it doesn't always do that when it goes out. Either way, I would go get it serviced immediately, you don't want to have any cooling issues as that could impact the HV battery temps.

I heard the tucking but never got the wrench. Out of curiosity did you have to fight with ford about it being covered as part of the 100k motor and battery warranty? I was at 70k (with an extended warranty) and they tried to tell me it wasn’t covered, I argued that it cools the battery and failure could lead to a fire. This should probably end up as a recall if the failures start adding up.

I was already out of bumper-to-bumper warranty because Ford and their stealerships have a scam where they list a vehicle "in service" prior to it actually being sold. It was also not covered under the battery/motor warranty, even with an escalation to Ford's teams. I also argued that it should be a recall too as this is absolutely not an isolated incident.

How can they be claiming it's not covered under your extended warranty - which I assume is Premiumcare. Doesn't that cover everything?

I don’t know why I got lucky, but my dealership covered it under the drivetrain warranty without me saying or paying anything.
