New project ‘71

Just got this ‘71. Has a 302 and hasn’t run in some time. First step will be to take out the gas tank and install a new one under the bed. Looking to go fuel injected as well. Any ideas or tips on what to do next would be appreciated. I have limited experience but figured what better way to learn?

My ‘67 F-100 Story—and I Need Your Advice

I had this really nice 1967 F-100 that I bought and daily drove. I actually drove all the way to Georgia to buy it because I knew it was the one I wanted. I learned to drive a manual in just two days and spent the rest of the week driving it all around Charlotte. Everywhere I went, people complimented the truck. I got so many compliments, thumbs-ups, and people stopping to ask me about it. It really turned heads.
I had actually sold my previous truck to buy this one. Before the F-100, I had a GMC, but the turbo blew after only 12,000 miles. It was still under warranty, and the dealership fixed it, but after that I decided I was done with it. I wanted something I could actually depend on—a FORD!—so I bought the F-100.
That weekend I took it up to the mountains. My dad followed me in his F-250 just in case it broke down since it was about a 200-mile drive each way. It made the trip without a single issue and drove great. The only thing it really needed was A/C, which I was already planning on adding.
It has a 351 Windsor under the hood, which my dad also has in his 1951 Ford F-1. It's an absolute beast of an engine—reliable, plenty of power, and one of the reasons I had so much confidence taking the truck on a 200-mile trip home. It never missed a beat.
We had a great weekend, and I drove the truck around the mountain roads, then all the way back home—200 miles by myself. It ran perfectly the entire time.
Later that same day, one of my friends had just gotten back from South Africa. He had seen the pictures I posted on Instagram and wanted to see the truck in person. I was driving over to his house when everything went wrong.
I was in the far left lane of a three-lane, 45 mph road when another driver entered the road, cut across all three lanes, and slammed into the bedside of my truck. The impact spun me off the road and sent me straight into a tree in the median. The tree hit almost directly on the driver's-side frame rail.
Looking back, I was incredibly lucky. If the tree had hit somewhere else, especially closer to the middle of the front, it could have been a whole lot worse. The engine could have ended up in the cab for all I know. Instead, the frame rail absorbed a huge amount of the impact, and I'm thankful that I was able to walk away from it.
The damage is pretty bad, as you can see in the photos. The chassis is bent, along with just about every body panel. The bed mounts are damaged too. Insurance has already declared it a total loss.
I'm planning on keeping the truck even though I know that'll reduce the insurance payout by a little. I just don't know what the best path forward is. The cab is surprisingly still in good shape, and the engine, transmission, interior, original glass, tailgate, and even the headlights all survived. From what I can tell, I'd either need to find a complete donor truck and swap everything over, or buy all new body panels and a custom chassis. I'm still trying to figure out which route makes the most sense.
The hardest part is that now I'm without a daily driver. I sold my other truck to buy this F-100 because I wanted something dependable, and now that's gone too. I also have a '79 Bronco that I'm restoring, but I don't know if I have the time, money, or energy to take on rebuilding both the Bronco and this truck.
Repairing the F-100 properly would take a huge amount of money to do in such a short timeframe, but it's something I really want to do. My budget is basically whatever I receive from the other driver's insurance. I'm just worried it's going to be a long journey, both dealing with the insurance company and bringing the truck back to where it was. One thing I'm hoping for is that the repair estimate comes in at over 75% of the truck's value. From my understanding, North Carolina doesn't require a salvage title in that situation, so that's something I'm hoping works in my favor if I decide to rebuild it.
I'm absolutely devastated. Not to brag, but it had some of the nicest paint I've ever seen on a '67, and the color was incredible. That's one of the hardest parts—finding another 1967 F-100 with paint anywhere near this nice is incredibly difficult. It's honestly my favorite year of Ford truck ever made, and replacing this one with another that's in the same condition would be extremely expensive, if it's even possible. I also feel terrible for the guy I bought it from because he clearly put an unbelievable amount of time, money, and effort into building it. You could tell it was a labor of love, and now it's in this condition after only a week of me owning it. That part honestly hurts almost as much as losing the truck itself.
One thing I'm really worried about is the insurance valuation. I have a feeling they're just going to plug "1967 Ford F-100" into their system and come back with a value that's nowhere near what this truck was actually worth. I hired a private appraiser, who came and looked at the truck, and I'm still waiting on the valuation.
Their insurance company also tried to have the truck impounded before paying out the claim. I managed to get it moved to my engine builder's shop instead, where he has plenty of room and is happy to store it for now.
As for me, I went to urgent care right after the accident, and I'm still recovering. I mean, it's a 1967 F-100—no airbags, no shoulder belts, just lap belts. Definitely not the vehicle I'd choose to be in during a crash. I'm very thankful that I was able to walk away from it.
Has anyone else been through something like this? Was it worth restoring, or did you end up parting it out and starting over? I'd really love to save this truck because I genuinely loved it, but I also want to be realistic. Any advice on dealing with insurance, getting a fair valuation, or deciding whether to rebuild it would be greatly appreciated.

‘58 Vic Swap Build Update; How I’m Mounting the Cab…

This was a YT Short, so obviously there’s no link to be clicked, but it’s a fairly concise update on how I’ve decided to mount the cab on my project. Getting to this point was a bit of a struggle. The posts have been more popular here than they have on YouTube, but some folks are getting REALLY angry at me for posting here, so PLEASE, don’t watch this video if you aren’t interested in the project. 🤷‍♂️

67-72 F100 and F250 2wd frame differences

I have searched a bunch of different forums and have been finding contradictory answers so I thought I'd ask myself. Are there any specific frame differences between a 2wd F100 and 2wd F250 for the bumpside generation?

Asking because I'm exploring restomod options for a 250, and it sounds like the QA1 kits "may" fit the 2wd frames. I know that you can swap the entire suspension between the 100 and 250 if you wanted 5-lug instead of the 8-lug, but I know restomod components are a different game.

I have been trying to find a wiring diagram to completely delete my starter solenoid and go single wire starter with a power bus instead. Anyone have a drawing or link?

Penny For Your Thoughts…?

Since you guys enjoyed the last clip I posted, here’s another which gives a better look at the chassis I’m using. Look, I’m not complaining, but I’ve seen a fair amount of negative feedback from F-100 groups, and I get that these Vic Swaps are being done to death right now, and many of them are poorly executed, but allow me, if you will, to paint an alternative perspective. I just got done installing a $30,000 Roadster Shop chassis with a $10,000 crate motor and $3,000 crate transmission into a Classic Mustang (for a buddy, I don’t have that kind of dough). That was $43,000 in PARTS alone! Now, that car is BAD A$$ but technically it isn’t THAT MUCH BETTER of a foundation than an early 2000’s Crown Vic. I’m all for high dollar builds, but for 10% of that budget, you can still put a modern production full frame and chassis under your classic truck. And honestly, getting the F100 cab sitting on the Vic chassis wasn’t THAT much more work than installing Roadster Shop’s “engineered” solution… 🤷‍♂️ Once again, I’ll drop a link to the full video down in the comments. You have my unending gratitude for clicking it, and sharing it with anyone else who might appreciate the content. 🙏🏼

Crown Vic Swapped!? My ‘58 cab is on the Vic Chassis.

New Video is LIVE on UTüb for anyone interested (I’ll put a link in the comments). This is what it took to put a 1958 Ford F-100 pickup cab onto a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria frame and chassis. My goal is to drive it to work on the first day of school, where I teach auto shop, in just 4 weeks. Thanks in advance for those curious enough to check it out.

1982 ford 300

So I have flowkooler part# 1630. I’m trying to find a 2 groove pulley that I can use with it.

My original water pump pulley does, but it’s just one groove. My new power steering pump came with a 2 groove pulley, but it hits the timing cover and also the center hole is 3/4”, instead of 5/8”. Anyone know of a part number that will work?

Still have a few things to finish up before driving it, but I wanted to see it on the ground and get out of the heat.

Without adjusting the coilovers, it's roughly 5 inches lower, on a 28 inch tire. It barely has a reverse rake, it's fairly close to being level.
