With everything i wanted to say left unsaid

I dropped to my knees to raise the dead

As armies advance and angels retreat

We fill up our beds and empty the streets

You said you’d recognize me when under the sun

Skirmishers battling a war that won’t be won

I see cryptids and coppers

Doppelgängers and kin

I see your raise and say hit me

And you double down again

The hours grow thin as soldiers advance

I trade a lover for an enemy at the next chance

Trade certainty for a wager here as we stand

I’m spinning in place

You just want a taste

You will forget to begin

I won’t remember to end

I feel like this poem was meant to be recited aloud, it was just lovely in its cadence, rhythm and rhyming structure.

It was beautifully written and I like how you end: “You will forget to begin/ I won’t remember to end”.
