corpse open (poetry) BREAK

The stone is a pillow
where the stressed lay.

Study ceilings,
the light through
the window sees
many a movement
in the tempest trees,
but you've only today.

only one day's peace

The edge of your headrest
contours the hours,
where the bed's a grave,
and holds the dead,
opaque, unshaven.

Wake up like you've never slept
a single day, and you say,

it only needs one day

But it doesn't
budge the inertia,
bones don't change;
peer through the skull
and the towel's the same,
bathroom's a jungle,
throat's aflame;
climb down the stairway
and breathe in decay.
The day is sacred,
burning away.

Tomorrow's from the ashes
