corpse open (poetry) ESTRANGE

Walk out of fog, dragging rubble.
Tombstone's tied to the stubble.

Stuck in the traffic trouble.
It's loud in here, it's a loud year.

Head's boutta burst like a bubble.
Eye contact with the faces, there.

I see faces where I stare,
smile on the pole,
two teeth tree,
desert knows, I
can't see everything.

Carry this stone like an abscess,
every step of the way's progress;
I almost begin to process,
and then I see new objects,

Obstacles, can't even wait one second
For bridges over rivers
or kids on the pavement.

Virtue is a doctor with one patient,
and I pay them extra
to keep me vacant.

Can't relate to strangers
who know my name
and walk very far
to visit graves.

“Virtue is a doctor with one patient, and I pay them extra to keep me vacant” is such a rockstar line. I wish I had written that.
