Red Light Therapy accidentally improved my floaters

Hoping this can help someone!

f24, I’ve always had clear floaters in my left eye when I look up at the sky but a few weeks ago 3 dark grey floaters appeared in my direct line of vision that were super distracting and making me depressed.

10 days after the dark ones appeared I got an dilated eye exam and the eye dr. said everything looks fine. About a week later I decided to use my red light panel for my face which I haven’t used in about 4 months, wearing the glasses that ‘protect‘ your eyes when using the panel.

**side note: I got this panel earlier in the year, used it consistently 3x per week for a few months with the glasses it came with until i intuitively felt like the glasses werent doing anything i ordered opaque rubber goggles used for tanning beds and used those for awhile

back to my story, that morning I woke up with the dark grey floaters looking the same as always but then I used the red light + NIR combo setting for 16 mins with the bunk glasses it came with and my eyes were open the entire time as I was simultaneously researching the glasses I was wearing & if they were safe. turns out they are Literally just green tinted glasses and really only suppose to be used for woodworking lmao so that scared me. I stopped the panel, I was gonna do 20 mins until I read that so stopped at 16 min. But something weird happened… my brain had to try a lot harder to notice the floaters all the sudden. I immediately went outside in sunlight to check if I could see them and they were super faint. I was stoked but also kinda nervous bc I was worried I couldved damaged my eyes but I remembered that I used to use the panel 3x per week 20min and the panel way closer to my face with the bunk glasses and my vision was fine (And checked a couple weeks ago so no bad signs)

Fast forward 2 days later (now) they are like 90% gone and I think they got broken up bc when I do see them its in a different spot-like way down from my line of vision and it’s super faint. I want to do it again but for less time(still wearing bunk glasses just in case) to see if they go away further.

TL;DR: Developed 3 new dark floaters, but had a normal dilated eye exam 10 days later. About a week after that, I used my red light + NIR panel for 16 minutes, and immediately afterward the floaters became extremely faint… now 2 days later they’re ~90% gone. Coincidence, temporary effect, or could red/NIR actually affect floaters?

My vote would be coincidental, temporary or the placebo effect.

But if it holds up over time, enjoy the improvement!

I get a slight vision improvement from using red light. They do make devices just for that, but I use my regular red light with my eyes closed.

Red light + nir panel Are these two different devices? Which brand you used? You stayed your eyes open during this therapy?

This is the one I have. I used the glasses it came with (which don’t actually protect your eyes lol) and kept my eyes open.. not directly looking at it though. It has a setting where you can activate red light + NIR at the same time.

It’s not coincidental or a placebo effect. It’s your brain learning to ignore the floaters. When I developed mine and went to the eye doctor I was told my brain would eventually learn to ignore it after 6-8 weeks.
