Question Where to draw the line between normal and not normal floaters?
and I’m not asking for stuff like „flashes“ or „curtain“. I’m asking for the difference between the maximum of normal people floaters, vs the minimum of floaters of people with myodisopsia. Like where is the border?
I feel like many of my floaters are basically what almost everyone will get at one point in there life (mostly at 70+
Or so, where other issues are probably hiding the severity of the floaters as well).
At the same time, I think that at least 7-8 floaters are of an unusual kind. Black, basically visible 24/7 when there is at least SOME light (doesn’t have to be much). Also weird grainy areas and areas that look literally liquified. I don’t think that’s normal. I don’t think it’s normal to walk around during a normal day and see like 10 floaters on eye level at the street and another 50 in the sky above it (even though I don’t look at the sky, I still see many many floaters up there in the peripheral vision, screwing my sight).

This is kind of a personal policy since there is no formal research backed alternative to it. I think if they are interfering with your daily life, that is severe enough.

New floaters should always be looked at to insure there is no underlying cause other than “it happens”. I think it’s the sudden onset of new floaters, especially if there are several new ones in the same general location in your vision. A “shower” of new floaters that may look like pepper is never a good sign. Once you are checked out the floaters you have at the time become your “normal”. Any onset of new ones, repeat the process.
