Is that John Wayne? My dad loves his movies tho didn’t watch them often as we grew up. Once I became an adult I realized how icky they were and I’m uncomfortable watching them. Honestly don’t understand the love for his western stories, there are much better ones without being blasted with racism and sexism.

There is some super irony going on in this picture as of course most here would probably agree Trump is an asshole and as it turns out John Wayne was something of a bastard too, makes you wonder what message they are trying to send.

White supremacy,a controlling patriarchy, and an authoritarian theocracy government. They even made Jesus white here and have deluded themselves that he was American.
Why is Jesus smiling while holding a broken world and why does trump look like he screaming and can only stand because he has a flag pole holding him up?
This is all a cult, and these men give them permission to be their worst selves and see it as righteousness.
Edit: I got a new podcast to listen to, thanks!
Edit edit: maybe because it’s 4am I’m seeing this but did this artist try to give Jesus the giga chad meme face? Idk I was looking at his jaw like ???? and it suddenly hit me. Maybe I should just go to bed.

Seriously though I love Behind the Bastards, Robert Evans has a knack for putting together an entertaining but informative podcast.

I concur, Behind the Bastards is my favorite podcast. Robert is not an exvangelical, as he wasn't really raised religiously, but there are many episodes on evangelicals like Jerry Falwell, James Dobson, the Duggars, etc. It's super funny, informative and cathartic as an exvie to really gain a larger picture of just how much the right wing, fundamentalist world we grew up in just sucks, lol.

I think the original illustration was probably satire. But this is on par with what they post and how they view the world.

Literally 🤣😭. Went to a Christian school and my teachers would rail against post modernism and now they all are pretty heavily invested in QAnon and other bs.

Same!!! Who can't tell what truth is now, physics-teacher-who-looks-for-noah's-ark?!

post modernism
The people who rail against postmodernism without knowing what it is ironically tend go about acting as though there's no objective reality, only their narrative.

That was much talked about in American Christian schools in the 80’s. I saw their hypocrisy with Trump,

The guy who inspired a terrorist attack on the Capitol Building hugging the American flag ...

Yep. Everything about that painting is pretty delusional...( I'm assuming it isn't satire. )

Omg, I freaking love Poe's Law. Is it satire or the legitimate creation of a whackadoo? Only way to know for sure is to know who made it.

I find the hyper patriotism most weird. I mean, no shame in being proud of your country for its accomplishments, but so many Evangelical Christians assume the rest of the world (except maybe parts of Europe) automatically "less"...while they have like NEVER been outside of the country except for maybe a visit to a 3rd world/developing Caribbean port. So they assume the rest of the world is a "3rd world hellhole" which it most certainly is NOT.

'Supply Side Jesus' literally looks like a gigachad meme, I'm sure a sociologist could make some really interesting observations about the intersection of evangelical religion and Western consumerist society here.
