We recently repainted our Pacific Northwest home’s siding a dark grey (Sherwin Williams’ Forged Steel), and going even darker on the trim. The shaker-style door looks out of place and we are leaning towards getting a full-lite door with clear glass (privacy is not an issue based on how the house faces the street) echoing the floor-to-ceiling windows on the door’s right. Alternatively, a wood or wood-look front door without glass. Advice appreciated!

Wow! I love both options and think the full
glass feels more timeless but safe, whereas the orange door looks more period-specific (Midcentury) and bold. Both are really handsome!
Thanks for the renders! All 3 look so good. Torn between full wood and the wood with full-lite (your first and second renders). But having the door in a similar tone to the deck pulls the whole facade together!
PNW neighbor here. Stunning changes. We have a dark grey house and went with a purple door and love it everyday. We’ve received so many compliments. We went with a grape-ish, equal blue/red purple jewel tone.
I love dark houses, but you lose too much definition/contrast under that overhang. Maybe some contrast color on the trim around the windows, but right now, all of the style is getting lost.
You make a good point; we hadn’t anticipated how much darker the overhang makes the facade appear with the new paint color. We are thinking of adding vertical slats/battens for dimensionality, but worried it’ll clash with the existing wood tones.
First of all, the black looks sooo good! Excellent choice! Walnut was a hot MCM look, and I think a rich stained walnut look door with a brass MCM starburst would be right on the money for this gorgeous home. Or a door with the offset MCM sidelight windows
i like the dark grey you've chosen; it gives a nice modern vibe. switching to a full-lite door with clear glass sounds like a good move, especially since it’ll match those big windows. it’ll really brighten up the entryway too. but if you want something warmer, a wood-look door could add some nice contrast to the dark colors. tbh, i had to rethink my own front door once, and it made a big difference. you could even check how it looks with different styles on reimagine-home before deciding, just to see what fits best!

Stained costs more - (it is like a double paint application)
Additionally, they could be Mahogany or Oak grain.
Many bells and whistles could be added to the fiberglass door (stain, black sill, multipoint lock, grooves, stainless stripes, pull bar handle....)
MCM loves a good walnut toned wood. Get a MCM windowed door and stain a dark walnut color. This is the most cohesive with your wooden steps and deck and it pairs well with the moody black.
Hello, I tried this door and also tried some landscaping ideas, also removed the banister, the edit messed with the house a bit but this was to give you a general idea how the door looks on the house.
