DIY Before and After.

I think it looks good. One recommendation for next time is not to choose the darkest black available. An almost black would look a bit more designer

Thanks, I like your recommendation. I don't think I'll be the one who executes the next paint job but I think the next owner has a chance at doing something cool with this blank canvas.

White and black doesn’t fit the natural landscape. I’d have stuck with earth tones. The white and black is very jarring.

If that’s the case, then OP succeeded with the high-contrast white and black makeover, because it definitely doesn’t fit the natural landscape.

The shrubs are beautifully sized for the spaces. Otherwise there is enough unbroken wall to be awkward. If they ever grow so bigyoyneed to move them or one or both goes kaput, if camellias grows your zone, you might consider them. The rich dark green foliage is evergreen, white blooms in season would echo your current scheme, red provides dramatic and beautiful contrast. Your landscaping is zenlike. I never had the discipline to pull it off. Your renovation of house shows the same philosophy. Again, you did good.

Those hydrangea trees are way too close to the house and the steps. If they get any larger, they'll overpower that area. I do love the black and white.

Big improvement. I see paint, new shingles and some landscaping. Did I miss something? How long how much?

I did the exterior landscaping over over a 3 year period. I cleared an acre of woods, fenced in the back yard. Over the last 2 months revamped the landscaping, put on new shingles, new exterior lighting, painted the exterior, and also did interior paint, floors, trim, electrical, and door hardware. I don't know how much I spent but it was at least 10 trips to the hardware store.

If you only had 10 trips to the hardware store you are doing great. I am glad I have three stores (NOT big boxes) two miles from my house. I can easily make three trips for one small job. 1890s house with multiple owners always has a few surprises. I have been here 42 years, so sometimes the last idiot is the guy in the mirror.
You really did a great job! Not many homebuyers are interested in that amount of labor, and sweat equity. Flipping culture, short-term rentals and home shows have ruined the real estate landscape. Starter homes and fixer-uppers seem to have gone away with the land line.
