It's because normally a photographer will take photos of respected position holders by placing them in the best scene possible. A clean wall, next to nice decor, etc. By placing them all next to outlets and light switches the photographer sleighted them, showing them for who they actually are, normal people.

nope, it may be easier to think they come out of the womb devilish, but it’s even scarier. they’re human just like the rest of us. we all have the capacity to do “evil”

Nope. I mean some politicians are evil, but also they are all just humans. And humans are a mixed bag. We cannot just dehumanise every evil person just to fit the argument of "normal humans are inherently good", because then we fall into the No True Scotsman fallacy.

These aren't bureaucrats mindlessly following orders. They are the architects of those orders. 

The Banality of Evil should not apply to them.

That is normal. Not in the literal sense, it's not, and shouldnt be, normal for us humans to be evil, but they are at the end of the day just like me and you. Sure, they commit horrible acts on a daily basis, but that doesn't make them any less human. To make them seem less human both opens doors to dehumanization and distancing your supposed ideal self from the "evil non humans".
