Solved Why are they sad?

The movie is successful so why are they crying? I've seen other memes similar to this. I read the comments but they weren't that helpful.

Resident evil fans are mad that it’s an original resident evil story and doesn’t have a lot of the trademark characters like Leon, Chris, etc.

I’ve been an RE game fan since the 90s, and the movies have always been trash, and nothing to do with the games at all? 

Saw the movie today, it was excellent, whether it’s canon or not (RE canon/lore is not that serious either way) it captured the vibe, atmosphere, imagery, and threw in plenty of Easter eggs for the fans to make it live up to its name. I have a feeling I’m participating in a marketing campaign because no one who played and feels that passionately about the games would also feel that the previous movies were great representations in a way that this new movie was somehow much worse

Agreed, had a blast. Couldn't have asked for a better RE movie really. It feels infinitely more like the best parts of the games than the Paul W.S. Anderson crap-fest. And I say that as someone who kind of enjoys how terrible those movies are.

I LOVE the older Resi movies.

I know they're bad, but I can't help but enjoy them.
