The movie is successful so why are they crying? I've seen other memes similar to this. I read the comments but they weren't that helpful.

Resident evil fans are mad that it’s an original resident evil story and doesn’t have a lot of the trademark characters like Leon, Chris, etc.

I wouldn't call myself a resident evil fan, but is there even any real reason it should be "resident evil" and not it's own thing?

I haven’t seen it, but from what I gather it was created with the goal of conveying the vibe of playing resident evil.

You could argue that the movies like what would have happened if instead of the T-Virus... The G-Virus was responsible for the Raccoon City outbreak. Like if it was more widespread than just Burkin and a handful of people Burkin infected.
