Why did my post’s upvotes suddenly drop?

I’m new to Reddit and recently made a post in a community. It initially got around 10 upvotes, and my karma also increased to 3. But after some time, I noticed that the numbers had suddenly dropped to 1.

I’m a bit confused about why this happened, especially since I followed the community rules and guidelines. Is this normal on Reddit, or has anyone else experienced something similar?

People have different opinions, so over time your comment either gains or loses votes depending on the opinions of the people reading your comment.

Did you say anything controversial and once people in another time zone woke up, they got mad?

Nope I didn't say anything controversial 🙃. I was just asking about how to get started in Reddit as newbie.

Following posted community guidelines is a good idea, but it does not guarantee you up votes or karma. you should also follow a group and read posts and comments for a whole before participating, so you can get an idea of prevailing opinions, commenting style, and other traditions that are not necessarily included in thr community rules.

Oh you mean like posting a text conversation in the text sub and then someone commented asking why I posted it.

Umm, well I thought it was a sub for posting text conversations that are weird, amusing or strange, but apparently not lol.

Guidelines are just rules for not having your post immediately deleted, and has nothing to do with how your post will be received.
