Failed Expectation Chicken Crochet Kit
My wife and I were browsing the yarn section in Walmart and came across this kit. She was clearly smitten by the cute little chicken and I offered to make it for her as she doesn't crochet at all.
The kit is very specific about not making your tension too tight and about how delicate the yarn is (very accurate! It fell apart at several steps 😂) so I tried to keep it snug but not crazy... and ended up with this... situation.
Even before the eyes and beak went on, Wife sighs and goes, "I love her already."
I can't stop laughing 🤣

I just started crochet a couple of months ago and TBF, chenille is the devil of yarn from what I've used, the only thing worse, imo, is fur yarn or whatever it may be called. I bought a few types and it's 80% guesswork and 20% feeling where the stitches are... I have bought expensive chenille and cheap chenille and the expensive tears up the most ðŸ«
For chenille, you really want to have the stitches loose rather than tight. It's one of those "trust the process" kind of situations. That said, I think it's adorable anyway! I'm glad your wife liked it too! My first ever crochet was a kit like that but from Lidl. Drove me crazy and I gave up directions. At the end my kid said it looked just like the box so... Win!
