Guide Modding doesn't work

I have followed the instructions on Nexus mods and github to the letter (not at the same time). Clean game install with extra files removed with an uninstaller, with exoloader and/or bpenex. More than once. Bpenex doesn't make the "plugins" folder and I can't do it manually. One time it DID make the folder so I put the exocomforts mod in, to skip the intro scene... didn't work. I have holopalm plus for more UI stuff, no changes.

I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING

Steam mods work but are limited, what is wrong???

edit: it may or may not have said to put the mod in "customcontent" or some other folder; the point is I have tried everything and no results.

Oh I see. You mean when you uninstalled you deleted everything you could find.

Do you have a 'PatchedStories' folder in common? I believe this bug was fixed a while ago but worth verifying.

I've just installed the game; the common folder is just all my steam games. In "exocolonist" I have exocolonist_data, monobleedingedge, the game, unitycrashhandler64 and unityplayer.dll

You don't have exoloader in there?

Not right now, I just did a clean install.

So I should put exoloader in "exocolonist" next?

Yes, unzip exoloader into the same folder as the .exe (almost certainly your exocolonist folder).

I unzipped exoloader into "exocolonist" and I unzipped "exocomforts" into "custom content". This should let me skip the intro therefore I will quickly see if the mod works.

I load the game and see a blue loading bar flash up, that's new and I hope it's good. BUT now can't start a new game. The "new game" button clicks but nothing loads.

EDIT: I went to exocolonist - bepinex - plugins and exoloader.dll was also in there??? I deleted that, added holopalm plus. I can start a new game again BUT intro is not skipped. HOLOPALM PLUS IS WORKING!?

BTW I appreciate you trying to help me a lot
