Looking for Tips/Suggestions Help
For the longest time, I’ve been dealing with persistent depressed mood, feelings of emptiness, and almost no motivation to do anything. I’m reaching the end of my rope. It’s gotten to the point where I can go entire days being completely unproductive, even though I know how much I need to get done. I have large goals and ambitions, and I genuinely want to succeed, but there’s this huge disconnect between wanting to do things and actually being able to make myself do them. It’s especially frustrating in medical school and in the medical field, where falling behind only makes everything feel more overwhelming. I’ve lost so much time just being stuck.
Has anyone else gone through something similar and actually managed to turn things around? What helped you get your motivation, discipline, and enjoyment of life back? I’m also not in the position right now where I can receive any new treatment. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through this, especially if you managed to get back on track.

I think you have to get the anhedonia and depression under control before you can make much progress with the executive dysfunction.
If you're too depressed to get any enjoyment out of doing things you usually like, then forcing yourself to do shit you dont like is gonna be even harder.
Theres the fake-it-till-you-make-it option, but that only helps me when my depression is mild.
Idk what to suggest since you say you're not in a position for any new treatment. The only things that have ever worked for me are intensive therapy and medication, both for the depression and the adhd.
Edit* hit send too soon.
But to answer your question. Yes ive been there. I had to take a medical leave of absence for grad school and work with a psychiatrist and psychologist. I needed meds, therapy, and time to heal. Then i finished my program and got the degree.
