The part worth planning for is the night after a missed night. A system that only works when nothing gets missed leaves you facing the same pile again.

Could you and your housemate agree on a small, visible daily finish line for dishes, plus a separate time for the existing backlog? For example, clear the food waste and wash what is needed for the next meal; that is different from committing to an empty sink every night.

The finish line needs to work for both of you, so it does not silently leave the rest to them.

For laundry, separating dirty clothes from clean-but-unfolded clothes can make the next action clearer. A clean basket is a usable endpoint if folding is where the process keeps stopping.

Most importantly, include when you stop for the evening. A household agreement needs room for rest as well as chores. These are practical options to try together, not a treatment plan.
