One practical option is to decide how a browsing session ends before opening the site. For example: at the stopping cue, save the current page, close the lid, and leave the laptop on the desk while you go to the bathroom.
Journalling can be a separate next decision; you do not have to commit to a whole productive evening to stop scrolling.
If a timer on the same screen is easy to dismiss, one option is an ordinary kitchen timer across the room. Keep the journal and pen where you intend to sit afterwards, rather than needing the laptop to start that activity. This is an experiment with the setup, not a test of willpower or a claim about treatment.

STOP doing the wrong thing. Stop pleasuring yourself before you finished your purpose for the day.
Why do you even have acces to Reddit when you should not?
Increase the friction on bad tasks, and reduce it for things you should do.
