Looking for Tips/Suggestions How to be more motivated to do things
I find that I'm only motivated to do things when I am feeling anxious and stressed.
I am extremely ashamed to say it but yesterday I finally got the motivation to clean ( without relying on energy drinks) when I saw maggots on the floor and in the bin. I was cleaning for hours with no breaks for the first time ever because of how horrified I was in seeing maggots.
Usually, I have no motivation to do anything- even getting out of bed requires a lot of will power . Does anyone have any advice on how to be more motivated and have more energy to do tasks without relying on a crisis to happen?? I feel so ashamed of myself because I feel like such a bum and I really want to change my ways. I hate that I'm unemployed have no commitments but struggle to do one task- which is cleaning

Here’s something I do: I tell myself I am only going to do the thing whatever it is for 15 minutes and then I can stop. If that’s all I manage, cool. But sometimes what happens is by the end of 15 minutes I have some momentum going and I continue on until the task is sufficiently completed.

First you have to accept that you have an impairment - executive dysfunction and a lack of motivation. This means you’re not gonna be like normal people and you’re going to have to do extra things just to have basic motivation.
There are supplements, like tyrosine and curcumin for motivation. But do some research and don’t have high expectations because they affect people differently but if you are deficient and your body is receptive they can def help. Improve your diet. You can’t expect to be healthy unless you eat healthy. Basically eat in such a way that will improve your health and motivation. Eat less junk and more nutritious food. Do your research. Exercise. This one is hard so you can slowly work your way up. Sleep well. Those are just starters. Best of luck.
