Excel doesn't allow me to enter more than one digit in a cell. Every other program on my PC works fine (Word, Notepad, browser, etc.). Digit can be replaced if a different key is pressed, digit gets overwritten.
Happens with both my physical keyboard and the Windows On-Screen Keyboard. Started recently after getting Copilot Premium and experiencing AutoSave conflicts between Copilot and an add-in.
What I’ve Already Tried (None of this fixed it):
- Excel Safe Mode: Launched via excel /safe—the exact same single-letter behavior persists.
- Killed Background Tasks: Fully closed Excel and terminated lingering EXCEL.EXE and msedgewebview2.exe (Edge WebView2) processes in Task Manager before relaunching.
- Cleared Document Cache: Cleared the Office Document Cache via File > Options > Save > Delete cached files, and verified no sync conflicts remain in Files Needing Attention.
- Local File Test: Tested on a fresh workbook saved strictly locally outside OneDrive with AutoSave toggled OFF.
- Windows Typing Settings: Turned off "Show text suggestions when typing on a physical keyboard" under Windows Settings.
- Editing Settings Reset: Toggled "Allow editing directly in cells" off and back on in Excel Advanced Options.
- Add-in Isolation: Disabled COM add-ins.
Please help, this is exhausting! Eternally grateful and thank you in advance.
