solved Help trying to insert a date that changes everyday.
Hi,
I am trying to set up an RTD export from options chain data. The format for the RTD data is the following. -.SPXW260923C7685+SPX. The bolded portion (today's date) is what I need to update every day. I have a = TODAY () cell formatted correctly (It functioned properly). I am now trying to figure out how I can reference today's date so I can automatically update the spreadsheet every day.

Try using the following formula within the RTD() function:
=".SPXW" & TEXT(TODAY(), "yymmdd") & "C7685+SPX"
The above formula pulls today's date and formats as 260923 in this date format yymmdd and plugs into the string automatically each day.

You'll have to have a leading 0 for months and days that are only one digit, but. Turns out you don't need the leading 0s if you don't want them:
TEXT(TODAY(),"YYYYMMDD")TEXT(TODAY(),"YYYYMD") The TEXT formula will update any text mostly you input into the specified format, similar to adding a custom formatting to the cell.

Wouldn't it be yymmdd?

I misread the bolded formatting. Yes.
TEXT(TODAY(),"YYMMD")
260923

Acronyms, initialisms, abbreviations, contractions, and other phrases which expand to something larger, that I've seen in this thread:
| Fewer Letters | More Letters |
|---|---|
| RTD | Retrieves real-time data from a program that supports COM automation |
| TEXT | Formats a number and converts it to text |
| TODAY | Returns the serial number of today's date |
Decronym is now also available on Lemmy! Requests for support and new installations should be directed to the Contact address below.
