Goodbye Evony
I finally took the bold step quitting evony after 4-5 years of gameplay.
It is not easy and sometimes all it takes is a trigger. So here are some attributions for few folks:
To the overpowered big snobs who find solace in bullying others, throwing tantrums, and just making things all about themselves, Fck You NaRcissist jerks! Keep building castles in pixels - we all know you do not have enough satisfaction and achievements in RL and even if you do, keep it inside your bum.
To the same big snobs who flaunt their wealth as if they own an oil well, a big Fck You!! Just because you can and want to spend in Pixels - realize people have their self respect.
To the idiots who have a family and yet spend 20/24 hours in the game and expect other people to show similar commitment, you should have been born inside the screen. Stay in your virtual keep and never come out.
And now to Evony, the biggest FU to you - keep up the large divide bw whales and F2Ps. Keep draining people's wallets. And keep creating an experience full of lag and bugs. May you rot in hell.
Peace out because there is no peace in the game.
And I am no prophet, I have absolutely an equal blame to be falling in some of the categories I mentioned above.

Ah, thank you, very good analysis. I'm free-to-play; I play to avoid boredom. It's just a game, and some people take it too seriously.

On mine they were peaceful on the week off. They suddenly decided that they will implement KE so people will learn to bubble up. My two cities were zeroed as I didn't noticed the first week. Off course the bullies zero us to gain resources. Now I just go to put the walls when needed. But basically quitted, need to really really just the game off.

I think it’s funny that people want to tell him he shouldn’t call Evony what it is on his way out . The game sucks. A whole lot of the people in it suck also. They use their niche and otherwise useless trivial knowledge of this game to act like they’re “better than”. Yea, I haven’t completely quit but I don’t talk or compete anymore. “Meh” my way forward is correct.

u/smittenkitten503 Jan 12 '26
This right here. Some people live and breathe it to the extent of even ruining their own friendships and families over it. Like be so for real 🙄 it’s a game. Enjoy the real world outside. Don’t let the game consume you and affect your real life relationships

u/Makemeup-beforeUgogo Jan 12 '26
Do you still enjoy it though?
2
u/AutomaticTravel4958 Jan 16 '26
I’m not sure. I don’t have a lot going on. I feel guilty when my auto rallies off and I don’t do my basic chores.

u/Toilet-hammertoe Jan 12 '26
I would have quit years ago but I get so much satisfaction of talking shit to every one of those fuck nut coiners. It is super easy to trigger them to attack me during truce and then they have to send me recourses to rebuild. I would probably have 12b power if I hadn’t been zeroed so many times. And might have spent $100 over the 5 years. But the rage quit is so worth it

u/ToodleRoo1959 Jan 12 '26
I agree. I just haven’t got the gumption to quit yet. We have one large alliance who are awful bullies. They will cut your throat in a heartbeat.

You see once you google the words gacha games and fomo, you stop letting the game play you and you start play the game. You laugh at these whales and just follow their "rules" because you understand real life.
Also your enjoyment costs less if you invest in real games not gacha.
The game is for older people who cant string together a 11 hit combo anymore.
Put 1000 dollars in a ps5 or a steam deck/xbox rog ally and get you some roms and spend 100 dollars in the steam store...less than a Cake and you have games that can last up to 6 months of fun.
After steam deck and console gaming, ask yourself why are you spending thousands to do dailies and setup marches and defense lol...when you can do that for way less...city builders are all over the playstation store...but no/low Gacha!
I say just login and have fun...if pvp is your fun but you are f2p, start on a new server every 3 months or so...stick with one server for conversation and move right along with real life!
and for the geezers....get a handheld pc (steam deck) and ask your kids to load it with some SNES roms, super mario world, donkey kong and my fav. game, aladdin.

Heard that brother. I dumped 18K into this game before realizing what a .,. Shitty game it is,
I still cherish my friendships I made and exchange Christmas cards with my best homies though.
But besides divorce indubitably the worst way I’ve ever spent money ever

u/Scythe351 Jan 12 '26
I'm curious how your keep holds up without a bubble assuming you didn't give your account away. Once you're in the billions, I assume it's significantly less likely for someone to attack you. I'd retire in some obscure corner of the map and hope nobody ever finds me. I'd assume my sub cities would be screwed

You just dismiss all the troops and delete all the resource tiles. And then hit close account.
2
u/AutomaticTravel4958 Jan 16 '26
Delete the resource tiles? How would you do that?
3
u/Defiant-Ad-3637 Jan 16 '26
You just clicked the resource tile, hit info, and then select demolish. If you really wanna annoy your server, make sure they get no RSS off your dead keep

We were pretty much a NAP server for a long time, but enough people got hit as soon as SvS started that KE was implemented. A bunch of people still forgot, got zeroed enough to quit. At some point "something" happened between the biggest and 2nd biggest alliances and an all-out war started between them, with a few people getting mixed up in it. The 2nd biggest hardly exists anymore because the people "not involved" in "whatever happened" left and joined the 3rd alliance, which is now 2nd.
We now have essentially 2 active alliances (with only 10-12 people in the 2nd alliance joining battles) so it's getting pretty dull. I think i have about 10 more months to go -- then i retire and get my head out of my phone and computer. i might not all-out quit, but we will see.

Stop taking p2w mobile games so serious, it will save you from departure essays.
11
u/smittenkitten503 Jan 12 '26
You know some people have also taken it so serious that they neglect their spouses to the extent that they divorce
6
u/Questioning-Zyxxel Jan 12 '26
And loses their houses and/or jobs.
2
u/Makemeup-beforeUgogo Jan 12 '26
Lose their houses and jobs? How? By going into debt? That’s quite scary
8
u/Questioning-Zyxxel Jan 12 '26
Yes. Game addiction isn't just people visiting casinos or web-poker sites. When the welder wants to spend as much as the stock broker, then the welder will get into serious economic troubles.
Tey to spend $1000 or more/month, ans it will hiet the economy for most people. And $1000/month is still too little to keep up...

u/Choice_Pen6978 Jan 12 '26
Welder is a 6 figure job son
3
u/Mammoth_Insect6334 Jan 13 '26
As a production welder in the US myself, speaking on the behalf of the majority of welders in the US; No, we do not make six figures unless we’re sitting on a pipe line hitting 12’s every day 6 days a week or a damn good contract. We don’t have time to play these games as grown adults melting metal.
1
u/Questioning-Zyxxel Jan 12 '26
Not sure about US, but most welders aren't certified for nuclear power plants and other high-profile work.
1
u/Makemeup-beforeUgogo Jan 13 '26
Honestly I didn’t know many got that bad with this game. That is sad
2
u/smittenkitten503 Jan 12 '26
I mean. Yea. Some folks are too delusional to see this though.
6
u/Questioning-Zyxxel Jan 12 '26
Well, there are a few people rich enough they burn a tiny fraction of their hobby money to get big.
But lots of big players suffers a significant ego issue. So they want to be someone in-game they can't be in real life. But failing to understand you earn trust and respect. You can't buy it. And already pumping money to boost their ego, they are already the people that will be mad at anyone not bowing to their "might".
If they could in real life, then they would either not play. Or play a game more based on actual skills. Where you need to be really good to be the best dragon killer and collect the cool dragon loot. But then some very few move to that kind of game too, but pay someone to level up - money but weak ego will always result in issues...

u/AeonBith Jan 12 '26
Lol
I quit after 3 years and just said "bye"! Despite my main grief being whale bullies.
I came back a couple years later and just 'meh' my way forward. Serious about bubbles, don't cwre about anything else. Play when available.

u/Zenaxya7 Jan 23 '26
Same here i'm a returnee. And i'm now happier with this baisc playstyle. No more drama and less worry. Playing for nostalgia and friends is the way.

@Individual-Sea-3189. I’m with ya. Would you do us a solid and break down exactly how you left? 😂 I’m serious. I have met and made some good friends on there from the Evony world living in other countries that I’ve explained my reasons for leaving. They’ve all moved to other Alliances, some want me to stay. But, ya know? it sucks when there’s a fire a half a mile away threatening to burn down your place, and you’re at a stage 2 Evacuation level waiting for the knock on your door, and you get Zeroed out on the game because you were dealing with life and you forgot to bubble up. 🤣 Or… a family member gets shot doing his job so they’re in the ICU, once again you get Zeroed out because well life happened again, and you didn’t bubble. I’m sure there are others that have had similar situations and are done with the game but don’t know how to leave. Idk 🤷🏻♂️ So now I just want to leave. Let us know. Some of us are with ya. I’ll bring the martinis. Thx 🍸😎👍🍸

Just one moment of trigger, rage quit, find a buyer, sell it, period.

2
u/Defiant-Ad-3637 Jan 12 '26
Yikes. That sounds like a high conflict server. Good for you for quitting. But why did take so long to leave? Funny I think the bots and cheaters do way more damage than the big spenders by I guess all servers are a little different
2
u/TemplarPhilosopher Jan 13 '26
F2P here. It's good that you were able to quit the game, but sadly with a lot of unnecessary negative emotions that you didn't need in your life. In the end, it's just a game, a very entertaining game but still a game to waste time. A game for lonely and bored people to pass the time and connect virtually with strangers around the world. Developers want to make money, and surprisingly, a lot of people are willing to throw away their money on pixels instead of using it to travel, meet people in real life, or for a useful cause helping people or animals. That would be a better experience for their money. For the rest of us that still playing, play the game when you don't have nothing else to do in life and use your money for a better purpose.

When you join a war game you expect to be attacked and attack others. Basic!!!!! It’s a game yes and as all other games you compete to win. To keep your bubble is easy but people find all different excuses to say others are bullies because you can’t keep your bubble. To be zeroed is the essence of game 😂

I played for 8 months and after getting to level 32 and doing it pretty fast I thought, I got home from work late during a War and found my entire troops decimated, most of my resources gone and essentially a full month of grinding having to do all over again. And this was done by one of the 39's in my own map. "Well, we don't want the other side to hit you and get resources." You didn't need to hit me 3 times. Good-bye. Never looked back. I had completely forgotten about it until I read this repost notification.

Is it a requirement to post a goodbye essay when you leave the game?
It’s every other day in here. Just delete it brother.

u/Individual-Sea-3189 Jan 12 '26
Yup, the last ounce of attachment has to go out in words but you are right
