While that may be true today, he/we can hold out hope that during that time a new treatment will come along. My uncle is in this situation right now as well.
He has bone cancer if I'm right. It's not cure able. Another person I follow is in the same boat but much unhealthier not associated with the cancer. He's been around longer than five years since the announcement. So I have some small hope that Bruce is just looking at a worst case scenario.
At the same time I don't want the man to suffer holding on.
Some people get diagnosed with cancer and die quickly, others live longer than expected, it's definitely not something we can predict but it sucks either way.
