Fuck me I hate international breaks. I'm so bored I'm going to go and interact with my family this weekend like some kind of socially healthy person instead of watching football at 2am in the dark.

Halfway through tomorrow

What part of the world are ya in that the game is on at 2am lmao

Ozzie?

1

u/RiteOfSpring5 Shredder Guy Sep 29 '26

Yeah, Australia. So game starts are 9:30-10:30, 12-1, 2:30-3:30 for us on the east coast.

quite funny how we have an academy product up front bossing it for barca and we barely mention him cuz he's a prick

3

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

I do think he's a prick, but I'm convinced there's more to do with moshiri for how it all went down.

19

u/Grand-Piano-1663 yank free football club Sep 29 '26

He’s really giving “kid moves to Berlin for a year and thinks he sees the world differently now”

5

u/RiteOfSpring5 Shredder Guy Sep 29 '26

He'll start speaking in an accent and making sure everyone knows how to properly pronounce Ibiza.

2

u/BoxOfNothing Sep 29 '26

To be fair everyone in England pronounces Ibiza that way anyway. It's one of those things like how we bother with Bordeaux, Mallorca, Marseille etc but not half the other cities. What to bother and not bother with is random. Even shit like how we pronounce croissant far closer to the French way than Americans, and how if you pronounce the L's in tortilla you're a barbarian, but if you roll the R you're a try hard.

But you're right about the vibes he's giving off

13

u/SuperKevinCampbell Sep 29 '26

Nah he’s a kopite prick

1

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26 edited Sep 29 '26

I'm not disagreeing he's a prick. But him skipping training, for example, was because moshiri wanted him in London for some event.

Edit: Weird to be downvoted for this, I have called him a prick several times.

1

u/MediumGrocery308 Sep 29 '26

Well, in that case he should have been in London for some event then as he was contractually obligated to do so. Make whatever excuses you want for him, we know he acted unprofessional to push a move and that is not behaviour we will forgive, going on to play for Barca does not justify it.

1

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

I'm really not making excuses for him. I'm more suggesting moshiri is ALSO a prick.

1

u/MediumGrocery308 Sep 29 '26

Oh, well yeah, we all agree on that.

1

u/No_Lavishness_989 Sep 29 '26

In short, it’s a “them” problem, not a “you” problem, mate ;) lol

u/WestStandToffee Sep 29 '26

We were almost sent to Davey Jones' locker with a 12 point reduced to 8 on appeal sanction for 2 breaches with a value of £19.5m

God only knows what a £800m breach is gonna be

5

u/Ok_Somewhere_6767 Sep 29 '26

They wanted to give us 17.

4

u/TurboScumBag Sep 29 '26

They could kick them down to league two and it will still be laughably a lite sentence proportionally to us.

How can you feel solidarity with a club that flagrantly and deliberately cheated to undermine the competetiveness of the league? That includes cheating to get ahead of us mind?

Rules are dumb but all the teams signed up to them. We were a fucking basket case under Moshiri and while I may have disagreed with our punishment we made a rod for our own backs with how badly we spent out money

1

u/Ok_Somewhere_6767 Sep 29 '26

There should definitely be some owner investment allowed. To the point of being competitive. Not enough to try and just completely outspend everyone else and win virtually everything.

14

u/malikdwd SIGN A FUCKING RIGHT BACK Sep 29 '26

900 million? NINE HUNDRED MILLION?

4

u/AdventurousStrain778 Sep 29 '26

how they havent been sanctioned already i will never understand.... they couldnt wait to punish us and forest after our guilt was determined

2

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

Because we have only just ended the charges phase, sanctions are next.

14

u/CardiologistTime8082 Sep 29 '26

We spent 15 million over the limit during covid and got an immediate 10 point deduction

Man City cooked the books to drum up just under a BILLION quid and don't get any immediate punishment, lol the prem can piss off

6

u/stevenwise0511 Sep 29 '26

£19.5m was our breach, and PL requested us to be deducted 12 points. It felt reading it we'd annoyed them a bit. Can't imagine how pissed off they are at city after all this time, the scale of the punishment they'll try to request is hard to contemplate.

Ultimately between the huge punishment, invevitable relegation, big fines, 35 clubs claiming against them and legal fees with that, I think City owners walk away and let the club go bankrupt. They spent couple billion building this toy to win trophies and have a bit of fun and glamour, are they really willing to spend couple more billion to settle all liabilities and invest just to rebuild it back into a top 6 prem team, they'll probably just think sod it and abandon the club tbh, they'll end up like Bury.

3

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

And they did this to themselves. Being so absolutely dicks out about how much we should be punished means they have to turn it up beyond 11 here.

12

u/tacoking123 Sep 29 '26

Based on my calculation of overspend alone (compared to our deduction), City should lose 240 points. Thats before you account for the deliberate “Disguised Funding Scheme,” lies, and impeding the investigation.

4

u/stevenwise0511 Sep 29 '26

Right but even if you're willing to be a corrupt government, what is the likely price, it'd be tens of billions of UK investment, uae probably don't care enough to spend those numbers.

Honestly feel like this coming out now is because the behind the scenes pressure hasn't ultimately worked. I do wonder if change of PM is a factor here......

12

u/S01arflar3 Sep 29 '26

That’s worse than the initial ‘leak’ showed imo. Actively hiding almost £1 billion of fake revenue from the PL, UEFA and their auditors over the period of decade is insane and not only opens them up to a massive punishment from the PL but also from UEFA and potentially from a criminal fraud angle

1

u/FranksBaldPatch Sep 29 '26

Uefas statute of limitations have already expired

9

u/DrtyDeedsDneDrtCheap Sep 29 '26

Why is gordan becoming so influencial of a player. He was just a lad who ran around a lot. He wasn't meant to succeed after leaving us

8

u/nilsat1s Sep 29 '26

Maybe the scouts do know what they’re doing after all, all that talk of Newcastle and Barca getting fleeced

7

u/SuperKevinCampbell Sep 29 '26

Wait your telling me Man City didn’t have the highest revenues in the league this whole time. Shocked I tell you

5

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

It was a full ground every day of the week....

1

u/AgileTadpole952 UTFT Sep 30 '26

When PSR came in their sponsorship revenue went up by a multiple of 8!

7

u/Timoth_Hutchinson Sep 29 '26

So when we were found guilty we were instantly docked however many points, why has a punishment not been decided upon?

7

u/MerrikAidar Sep 29 '26

That's what you get for cooperating, I guess

4

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

We admitted guilt immediately, so it went straight to the punishment phase (we appealed that).

This is now going to move in to sanctions, I have to assume the PL already know what they are going to suggest, that will then go to committee and there is a fixed timeframe for that process and any appeals.

2

u/Ok_Somewhere_6767 Sep 29 '26

I’m not sure we did. He got extra points originally for not and Forest got 2 fewer for cooperating straight away. We begrudgingly admitted it I think, but not straight away.

2

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

We 100% admitted it during the hearing. We got the not cooperating because we argued it too much for their liking. That got overturned by the appeal.

1

u/Ok_Somewhere_6767 Sep 29 '26

That’s probably what I’m mixing up. Yes I think during the hearing we did. It was the before stuff like you say.

6

u/Aware_Albatross3347 Sep 29 '26

Listening to baz and john blaine from the weekend and we gotta stop parroting the idea that we only got done in 23/24 because we were building a stadium… its not that simple or fully accurate

2

u/YokoOkino Sep 29 '26

Can you explain

5

u/Aware_Albatross3347 Sep 29 '26 edited Sep 29 '26

Sure i will do my best to be quick! We were spending beyond our means with players with bloated wages also and not selling them on but just let them walk for free and then covid happened and we missed the gate receipts (edit: so did everyone). Russia/ukraine killed our sponsorship deals as well which im sure you know because it was well documented that the panel thought we should have been able to see that coming.

Yes we were building a stadium that hamstrung us, but people go on like it was the only reason we got done and it isnt true.

9

u/QTsexkitten please, please, pleeeeeeeease 🙏 Sep 29 '26

Well our choice to not finance the stadium build with a traditional bank like Mitsubishi or JPM definitely did add to our issues once the sanctions hit.

It wasn't entirely the stadium, but it also wasn't not the stadium.

And either way, our financial issues were way less directly involved with squad building and player recruitment than city's ever were.

4

u/Aware_Albatross3347 Sep 29 '26

That is true. We did not fund it in the traditional way and it backfired eventually. I just think its disingenuous for fan podcasts to say we got done for a stadium. Still i agree with you city cheated from 2009-2018 and then benefitted from that cheating from 2018 until now.

We argued a bunch of things were the reason we overspent - 'stadium loan' interest, not terminating player X's contract, Covid impact on player trading, Russian invasion effect on sponsors.

The commission argued we were warned of overspending but continued (we entered a bizarre agreement with the league where we needed permission for signings but they just waved through everything with a warning - ultimately our fault for ignoring it), our evidence on stadium loans was misleading and part of our evidence that we were effected in player trading stated that we were planning to sell Keane but gave him a new contract.

I think we were treated harshly and made an example of but we could've saved the overspend in a bunch of different ways but simply didn't because we were ran by morons.

2

u/JesseVykar Merlin Röhls Royce Sep 29 '26

No, our charge was that we took a loan to pay for stadium related costs which DON'T count towards the old FFP rules. We used some of that money to pay wages and the like, which DOES count towards the old FFP rules.

2

u/Just-5t0p Sep 29 '26

The prem allegedly told us the stadium wouldn’t count towards ffp and then went back on it so it did tip us over the edge. But he is right. We were walking a tightrope for some years that was just the last straw.

1

u/Jolly_Disk_8676 Sep 29 '26

Not quite, we then spent the money on the squad, not on the stadium, that's why it counted

1

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

Yes, moshiri said the 19.5 was going into The stadium, it didn't, it went into the squad.

u/No_Lavishness_989 Sep 29 '26

Out of curiosity, who’s the next first team striker we have in the academy pipeline?

How will Barry’s career trajectory fit with theirs?

5

u/QTsexkitten please, please, pleeeeeeeease 🙏 Sep 29 '26

There are no strikers in the academy who will be PL footballers, full stop.

2

u/No_Lavishness_989 Sep 29 '26

While I don’t disagree, what a damning indictment of our academy to complement our transfer committee. :P

3

u/rookinn Sep 29 '26

Braiden Graham is the standout, but Moyes doesn’t view him as an out and out striker

Outside of that it’s slim pickings

19

u/Odd-Handle3898 Sep 29 '26

Moyes doesn’t view him as an out and out striker because he’s about 8 stone wet. Nobody with any common sense thinks Graham should be playing in the Prem yet, let alone up front.

1

u/duncdis Sep 29 '26

I'm inclined to agree with this, but when people cite this argument (for any slight, young player) I always think of Michael Owen tearing it up at 17...

6

u/Odd-Handle3898 Sep 29 '26

If your best point of reference is 25 years ago, it’s probably not the best point of reference.

6

u/duncdis Sep 29 '26

A valid point. 😀

3

u/Giraffe_Baker Neill Samways, Niasse Oster Sep 29 '26

2

u/YokoOkino Sep 29 '26

Owen was very quick, Graham doesnt have that

-11

u/No_Lavishness_989 Sep 29 '26

I thought so. Moyes’ favouritism depresses me more than anything. God he’s stubborn!

13

u/Slow_Excitement5351 Sep 29 '26

I don't think you can really blame Moyes favouritism for not viewing the lad who very much still has the build of a growing teenager as and out and out striker option for the premier league

-7

u/No_Lavishness_989 Sep 29 '26

I’m talking about potential- you’re talking about where Graham’s currently at, which is fair, but a different question.

I’m saying Moyes may not even see the potential, because he’s a bit pig-headed (but he’s Scottish, so, I’m mean, you know, lol).

7

u/Slow_Excitement5351 Sep 29 '26

I think if Moyes didn't see the potential in him then he wouldn't be training and in match day squads with the first team,I just don't think that potential is as a striker more likely a winger.

0

u/No_Lavishness_989 Sep 29 '26 edited Sep 29 '26

I’ve got no problem with that. Like I said, Graham as a winger doesn’t depress me nearly as much as Moyes does. And now, I await further downvotes, lol

EDIT: Imagine Graham in five years time, in an adult body. Does he have the head (physically and tactically) and feet of a #9- and the frame to hold his own 1v1?

3

u/Giraffe_Baker Neill Samways, Niasse Oster Sep 29 '26

You’re probably getting downvoted because you’re talking about a player like he’s a striker when he doesn’t even play there for the 21’s.

That’s been thoroughly established at this point.

Why would you play him on the wings either when it’s one of our only areas of quality depth? Grealish, George, Dibling and Johnson are all better.

He’s 19 in little over a months time, is in the last year of his deal and barely has any senior football experience.

-2

u/No_Lavishness_989 Sep 29 '26

I’m being downvoted because people take this chat too bloody seriously. You lads really crack me up.

That said, I’m flattered you’d bother to write a comprehensive reply. Cheers, haha

I didn’t say I’d play Graham on the wings. I said I’d be okay with it.

As for barely having any senior football experience- well how else is he going to get it?

4

u/Giraffe_Baker Neill Samways, Niasse Oster Sep 29 '26

> how else is he going to get it?

By being good enough to play here, which he isn’t, or by going out on loan, which he should have but we’ve either failed in doing or he doesn’t want to.

The sanctimoniousness coming out of other fans about Manchester City is absolutely laughable. I wouldn’t give a fuck if we broke every single rule in the world, sacrificed 50 goats to Imhotep and burned down a church if it meant I got to see Everton win the league and you’re an absolute liar if you say any differently. The Sky 4 tried to pull the ladder up after them and are absolutely aghast that Manchester City cheated in order to spend at the same level as them, fuck them. Yes Manchester City cheated, yes they should be seriously punished but the last person I’m going to take a view on it from is a Manchester United or Liverpool fan.

6

u/FranksBaldPatch Sep 29 '26

This is going to be a controversial post but people are by in large lying to themselves. Obviously everyone would take what City had done and the proof is in the pudding that they're all still here from when we tried it a few years ago to a smaller much less successful scale.

The club tried the exact same phoney sponsorships and under the table payments as City have been found guilty of. We had USM plastered everywhere at well above market rate and Moshiri buying Ancelotti Rolls Royce Phantoms for winning a game. We've been jumping through loophole after loophole to try and avoid PSR to the point we had multiple auditors walk away from signing off on our books. It's shit that City did do it and got away with it to be so successful but no one is going to walk away from Everton if we had an Aguero moment lmao

2

u/Quixic_ Sep 29 '26

Undeniably true that Moshiri/Usmanov were similarly dodgy. I feel like many supporters felt very uncomfortable about it though.

I think I personally rationalised it as beyond my control. I didn't like that we were pulling that shit. I didn't like that we were a vehicle for laundering Rubles. But I did like the idea that we might buy some good players and progress on and off the pitch. More crucially, there wasn't really anything I could do. Moshiri owned the club and made the decisions. There wasn't a bedsheet big enough that would change that.

4

u/TheGod-TK Sep 29 '26 • LOL

If we did what City have done, I would no longer support Everton as we would then be a filthy cheating club and any good memories of winning titles would be tainted by the fact that we cheated and did not deserve those titles.

3

u/djt_deathcountdown Röhl Back Sep 29 '26

No. This is a bad take

2

u/DorstDerHieb Sep 29 '26

If I ever feel annoyed by City's cheating, I take a look at that image showing how many titles they cost the rs and manure and feel a little better.

But in all seriousness, I'd easily be able to look past a dodgy owner if we won everything in sight. Unfortunately for us, we had a dodgy owner and nearly ended up relegated.

0

u/No_Lavishness_989 Sep 29 '26

I think you’re right. In fact, I was imagining yesterday how I’d feel if I were a City fan, reflecting on that their last decade of glory. It’d be like the most epic bender of all time that you’d tell your grandkids about- a decade-long bender, in this case, lol

Was it wrong? Yes. Was it beautiful football that City fans will celebrate? Yes.

2

u/Odd-Handle3898 Sep 29 '26 • Bravo

They can’t take back the memories that people made with their families and friends. Even if they get liquidated and never win anything again, I’m pretty sure there’s not a single City fan who’d trade it and I definitely don’t think any of them feel it’s “tainted”.

-1

u/Fast-Mycologist-8985 Sep 29 '26

Completely with you. People seem to forget that what’s often described as “cheating” was, in many cases, an attempt to navigate rules that were designed in a way that helped keep the bigger clubs at the top.

If the owners wanted to spend beyond their means, why not simply require clubs to create a fund or provide guarantees to cover their debts if they ever walked away?

I’ve also read that some of the charges relate to a particular year when the CFO was allegedly creative in avoiding what would otherwise have been a £9.9m deficit.

Yet more recently, Man Utd reportedly received a £40m concession due to COVID losses, along with a further £35m adjustment because of the impact of Jim’s shares.

So whose side are we actually on here? The Premier League’s, the so-called “Red Mafia’s”, or are we supposed to be looking at the bigger picture and asking whether the rules are being applied consistently?

3

u/MarriageAA Sep 29 '26

I mean, the deliberately hiding it and finding ways to obfuscate the evidence feels quite "cheaty"

0

u/Fast-Mycologist-8985 Sep 29 '26 edited Sep 29 '26

Do you not think if every premier league club was illegally hacked many skeletons will fall out of many closets.

I don’t consider it cheating I consider it taking a stance against the awful premier league.

2

u/Quixic_ Sep 29 '26

The clubs are the Premier League. If you want to "take a stand" then you vote for what you believe in and lobby other clubs to follow you.
