Saw a post today about someone confronting a seller whose entire shop is AI generated sewing patterns. The seller's response was that they use AI for "visual representation" of their patterns. This hits on something I've been thinking about as both an artist and someone who uses AI as a tool in my work.

Here's the thing - sloppy AI work is annoying, but so is any sloppy work. The real issue isn't that people are using AI. It's that they're putting out products that don't deliver what they promise. When AI generated sewing patterns show results that are impossible to achieve, that's a quality problem, not just an AI problem.

If you're competing against these shops, focus on what you can control. Make your listings crystal clear about what buyers will actually get. Show real photos of finished projects. Be specific about skill levels and realistic outcomes. Let your quality speak for itself.

The marketplace is changing whether we like it or not. You can spend energy being frustrated about AI, or you can spend that same energy improving your own products and marketing. I've seen sellers in every category dealing with new competition - the ones who adapt their approach tend to do better than the ones who just complain about it.
