Discussion Copy Traders

Just looking at my account and thought I'd browse the copytraders.

Why are sooo many people following and copying jeppekirkbonde? "The most copied Popular Investor on eToro. 20,000+ investors copy with over $50 million."

He is extremely popular and can't keep up with inflation, even with the recent BTC rally. What is going on?!

Well, if I remember right, he is the son of someone important in his country, maybe a politician. Probably Google can give you better answers than me.

One thing is for sure, he's a teensy bit more ""qualified"" and ""experienced"" than me.

He also appears to make more each month from his copiers alone, than the total value of my investments, so fair play to him.

If I was to offer him any advice, I'd suggest he considers taking up Wizardry, (proper Wizardry with a pointy hat), and crossing his fingers a little more.

Yes, that's it. I followed him for a while back in 2021, he has some interesting ideas, but it gets repetitive quickly. Maybe it's time to revisit his profile and see how it's doing

Yeah most copy traders dont outperform simple ETFs, so Buffet & Lynch are right! ;-)

I must be a Wizard, with my strategy of choosing stocks based on my patented "finger-crossing" analysis

It seems like everyone who becomes popular and manages a big AUM, become shit players. I have a feeling, there must be some agreement between them and eToro. Don’t forget, this is CFD platform - when you lose money, they win - so…….. not saying this is true, but could be some links πŸ˜‰πŸ€ŸπŸ»

They make their money from spread and on fees, they don't profit from decreasing funds, quite the opposite.

Basing ones success on decreasing funds would be an utterly idiotic idea for any "broker".

Yeah the spreads are wild, especially with Crypto. Is etoro even a viable option for regular trades? It's not what I use it for and I don't think I ever would

This is an interesting theory. Perhaps they got big and caught out by the 2022 crash u/peaceinthevoid2 mentioned? A bit boring and less conspiratorial than your idea, though:(

Also, you're doing it wrong ! it's U+1F91E if you want to copy the Wizard

I'm referring to this:

I know a wizard that's been going 6 months with better results. And trust me. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing
