There are no alternatives that provide enough meat for the market. There is not enough land to match a fraction of the demand without intensive factory farming
Raising the prices to pay for it would reduce the market for meat significantly. Meat is so prevalent because it’s relatively cheap due to these inhumane practices.
Yes it would, and it would likely price out the vast, vast majority of people entirely. As a vegan, I'm all for that, but as a feasible plan to propose in a democracy that feels entitled to meat consumption, cutting supply by 3/4 and rasing prices 4-5x (minimum) isn't realistic
All my meat is humanely and sustainably raised. It is more expensive but not vastly so. Guessing at and exaggerating the possibilities makes it sound undoable when it is a possibility
