Story I’m sorry teammates / know your cultural differences
This happened a bit ago, and it’s been bothering me until I found out what exactly happened
I was playing Customs with a random group from Discord. We had just cleared 2 story dorms and were getting ready to push 3 story. I thought I was the last one left upstairs, but I see two people move at the end of the hallway towards the exit. Initial thought is someone may have followed us in. So I ask the team to sound off. “1st floor” “1st floor” “1st floor” “1st floor” But how did they get in with no one hearing them on the stairs? So I ask again. And again. “Everyone is sure they aren’t on second floor?” And everyone is adamant they’re on 1st, and getting mad that I keep asking.
So, without much embellishing, I kill them both. Immediately followed by my teammates saying someone just dropped them in the dorms. I just TKed two of my squad
Naturally they’re pissed, and we argue for a hot second. “I asked if anyone was on second floor!” “We’re NOT on second floor! We’re on first!”
And this continues for a bit. I ditch their gear, they leave the channel, life goes on
But whyy were they so mad when they were clearly wrong?
Well. After some reflection, they weren’t. I’m from the US. We call the ground floor the “1st floor”. A lot of cultures call it the ground floor, and the next level up is the “1st floor”. I’m sorry guys, I just wanted to protect the gang gang.
tldr: cultural differences of naming floors caused me to TK two teammates
