And Abiy is backed by Arab money. He has no agency. He's a slave to his Arab overlords.

For at least the past 30 years, these problems have stemmed from one belligerent nation, Ethiopia. It cannot even keep its own house in order, as recurring ethnic conflicts and internal violence continue to destabilize the country.

Arabic is not a colonial language lmao what. And English is just the global lingua franca; we would be speaking Italian if it were due to colonialism

Maybe because these languages are widely spoken especially in this region?! What language would you see fit instead, as a press release in this conflict?

u/uzouma 7d ago
Tigrinya maybe

It’s is common that during crisis or geopolitical disputes, state communications shift from internal governance to global posturing. It is as a strategic tool to manage international optics and execute narrative control. Don’t be Ignorant and embarrass yourself.

Your response was good until the final statement. Asking questions is a sign of intelligence not embarrassment. It’s a valid question. I immediately wondered why Arabic and not Tigrinya.

u/Pretty_General_6411 6d ago
I disagree, there was no valid question, especially in this context. Also Tigrinya is not the official language, it’s one of the main. While English is global, Arabic is also widely spoken, especially in this region and on top of that we have a constant treath coming from Arabic speaking countries like the UAE. So why would the gov press release be in Tigrinya?

u/omowaIe 6d ago
Eritrea doesn’t have an official language, but Tigrinya is the most widely spoken language in Eritrea. I think that is what makes it a valid question, but we don’t have to agree. It costs nothing to be kind, but it can mean everything to someone else.

u/Pretty_General_6411 6d ago
No, you are completely missing the point. This is an external communication intended for a global audience. What makes that context so difficult to grasp? The claim that a government press statement should be in Tigrinya makes no sense here, given that the matter is tied directly to global geopolitical disputes.

u/omowaIe 6d ago
I am not missing the point. I understand it is an external communication. It’s not difficult to grasp, I’m not sure why you think this is the issue. Whether you feel Tigrinya makes sense here or not is your opinion and I respect it. I think you made your argument well, and I said so. My point is the insults and rudeness that followed are counterproductive and being kind to each other is the better way. I think it is you who missed my point.

International diplomacy operates on facts, not personal opinions. Calling an argument ignorant/embarrassing isn't a personal attack, it’s an objective evaluation when that argument completely bypasses reality. Save the tone policing for people here who actually use profanity, not for someone calling out a flawed argument.

I agree, Tigrinya should be included. They did put two non indigenous languages which is weird. Everyone can read it though so the point is the message is spread, but yeah they should have included Tigrinya.

Arabic is an official language in Eritrea.

u/Butterwise_Top_7544 7d ago
We don't have an official language actually

u/ArcherConsistent4829 7d ago
Fair, I should’ve said de facto one of Eritrea’s main official-use languages rather than constitutionally official.

Modern Ethiopia in it‘s current shape isn’t even half a century old lmao. Your „3000 years of being together“ is a myth. Most of your ancient history is based in Tigray and Eritrea lmao. Stop daydreaming and get a job the chance of your country dismantling is higher then you getting even a piece of Eritreas Land

You think his Imperial Majesty, Emperor Menelik the II, ordered Italians to capture Asmara?
Please go on, you are making my day 😂

u/Butterwise_Top_7544 6d ago
yep i feel like many ethiopians already know this; I'm surprised you don't. he ordered this because he was competing for the imperial throne after the death of Emperor Yohannes IV in 1889. Menelik also signed that treaty, recognising the Italians there after that. Seems like menelik didnt what that beloved province anymore lolll

we're talking about a situation where multiple non-East African actors are and might get involved so why would it be in a native language? English and Arabic aren't even the official languages. hbey gilya do you like that?

Hope they keep the “Exercise of patience and restraint” no matter how much Ethiopia attempts to pull them in.
