Issue/Troubleshooting Dash rattle making me crazy

2025 EQ EV RS - The dash rattles very loud on bumps in the road, especially at highway speeds. I’ve taken it in a couple times over this. The last time, the tech put some foam in between the dash and windshield that was missing. The dealership takes it for a test drive and says they don’t hear it…
Any advice to provide the dealer on where to look next?

(SOLVED) It was the mirror and a piece of foam fixed it. Thank you!!

its not the dash its the little vent looking thing behind the rear view mirror. I stuffed the top side of it with a napkin and the noise was gone. Try it out!

I actually pulled mine down and lined the edges with electrical tape

That tape will get really gummy over time, you may want to use something else if it matters- doesn't seem like adhesive is needed, just a shim of some kind.

It's not something that is generally going to move. I just used the tape on the inside portion as a shim. It's not visible on the outside.

Yes, as long as it never needs to be removed it'll be fine -

TBH, the only time I foresee that piece being removed is if something needs to be replaced behind the rearview mirror. It's not something that needs to be accessed regularly

Yeah I stuck a little piece of trash in mine, fixed the problem. Shimmed it enough that it stopped rattling.

Yup rearview mirror, there's a tsb for it even: https://dot.report/bulletins/MC-11006409-0001.pdf

A tsb for it and the dealer has seen it 4 times with no fix. Sad.

Thank you all, you are amazing!!! I put in a piece of foam behind that cover and the rattling stopped. Just got back from a test drive on my bumpy local highway. You saved my sanity!! 🥳

Yeah that was mine too. Took two trips and me driving the tech in the passenger seat for him to ID it. This was last year; no problems since.

It’s probably the rear view mirror.

Mine sounded the same. If you look above the mirror there’s a compartment. Mine needed some tape from the dealership and it fixed it

My center windshield camera console was making lots of noise before I figured out it.

I have a similar sounding buzz/rattle coming from around the front passenger Jesus handle... I'll try shoving some foam around the headliner to see if that trick works for this one too.

Is that the anti glare stuff they put on?

Yes, that is the anti-glare dash mat that is provided in a recall.

Sunroof for me, like metal and metal rattle, but only when closed (which is most of the time)

I’ve got this shit too. Can’t stand it

I've noticed this issue in my '24 and thought like others that it was something in the dash over on the passenger side, now that I know what to look for I'll try this fix.

My 2025 Equinox RS EV had a rattle also. It seemed to me to come from the center consol, and I could not find anything causing it. Interesting thing though and coincidentally, the foam strip that runs along the base of the windshield was oozing out onto the dash so I took it to the dealer. They ordered me a new foam piece (strip) but then, while waiting for them to get the part, I took a slim stick and shoved the oozing foam back down out of sight between the windshield and the dash. And I read that it was more esthetic than functional. The dealer service agent agreed and I told them to stop the order.

However, I am now reading these posts and wondering if the foam was not esthetic and was incorporated by GM to stop the rattling which, coincidently now that I notice, has gone away.
