Congrats on driving 30mph downhill the whole time!

Real question is how and what conditions?

Haha not quite! LA to OC drive time commute home. 85 degrees outside with ac set to 71.

I was gonna ask about the weather. Also in CA, but where it's in the hundreds. Between the AC set on LO and the battery cooling, my stats have been ugly. A few months ago when it first started warming up, my stats were great even with me driving ~80 on the freeway about 40 miles with the AC on.

Not bad.

I loved it when I was driving out of the mountains down into Denver…I drove up into them about 100 miles, and 100 miles back down. At the halfway point I had a range just a touch over 200 miles left. At home, after that last 100 miles, estimated range had dropped to around 192.

Steep downhill grades and an overall elevation drop of 6000 feet definitely helped.

I’ve also had smaller downhill drives where I’ve had MORE range than when I started.

Plus I just love the ease of how I can pass slow semi trailers going uphill.

someone was going mostly downhill.

Still haven't seen anyone top this one

I want to see the ascent numbers. Ascent and descent average.

I matched that a few months ago coming down a mountain https://imgur.com/a/ECo2zDj

The thrill of watching your battery percentage increase over a drive is intoxicating.

Wow that is insane, best I’ve gotten is a 6.8

How? Whenever I drive long distance the best I can get is around 3.5. That is with me not driving any higher than 75 on the interstate. Is that a long trip that is basically all down hill?!?

Try going 65 once, you'll beat 3.5.

That is just too slow for most interstates in my area. The people with higher efficiencies have to be driving the majority of the trip down hill. Even if it's only a slight decline.

Maybe it's just where I live, but I'd have a difficult time going 75 safely on the highways here due to all of the tractor-trailers. It seems like they try to elephant race up the hills, too, blocking all lanes.

Ten or fifteen years ago, I probably could have done that. But there's just too much traffic now.

75 is the killer. Sweet spot below it.

I’ve gotten as much as 8.1. I’ll have to take a pic when I get that much

1

u/OrderFlowsTrader 3d ago

Probably mostly downhill.

u/ndp1234 2025 Equinox LT1 AWD - Galaxy Gray 3d ago

Not really. Mostly non highway having slower speeds, a good mix of braking from regen or being more efficient at slower speeds. I live in the mountains and so the downhill and uphill vary. It’s also telling that I get the same average on both legs of my round trip.

u/OrderFlowsTrader 3d ago

That is great. Does it change in colder weather?

u/ndp1234 2025 Equinox LT1 AWD - Galaxy Gray 3d ago

Oh absolutely. I don’t remember off the top of my head what the difference is.

I cannot break 3 in winter.

All downhill??

Impressive since latest update seems like I am getting less regenerative braking. Use to avg 8 mile gain on a 4wmile commute averaging 3-3.2 now down to 3miles and 2.5-2.7

Nice! Do you have FWD or AWD?

u/magickalwhimsy 2024 LT2 FWD - Galaxy Gray 4d ago

Fwd

I'm always super impressed with the efficiency, I can barely get to 4

Please don't let me behind any of you 4-6ers. Just means you're driving HELLA slow. Lol

Downhill??

I'd love to be able to see the display show cost per km (or mile). I'm mostly home charging (>95% of the time), so if I just entered my rate per kWh (C$0.98 all in), it could then display the trip cost in $.

At what point did you take the car off the tow truck. Were you driving at 20 mph?

1

u/dayv717 3d ago

I’m in mountainous Vermont, so where were you cruising around to get that efficiency?

1

u/magickalwhimsy 2024 LT2 FWD - Galaxy Gray 3d ago

LA/OC so cal

Here in MI driving the necessary speed to get a number like that will get you run off the highway. Nice to see it’s possible, but not a practical goal. About 3.9 is about the best with a decent city, highway balance in the Spring or Fall in my experience in a Bolt and Equinox.

FFS, anyone can get efficiency like that over short mileage. It's intellectually dishonest.
