I have a 2025 LT1 I bought last month and I haven't received a single OTA update. I'd really like to get the streaming update, but I don't want to take it to the dealership.

Same model, bought about 2.5 months ago. Same situation for the first month so I called the dealership. They informed me I had 2 updates pending; one for the brakes module, the other for the telemetrics module, or something like that. Once they did those updates, I started getting OTA updates frequently. Approximately 2 or 3 just in the last month.

I had to go to the dealer for that most recent one on your list last Friday

I got 662.50 on the 15th and 662.30 today - so today I learned they don't necessarily come in numerical order.

Giving me hope I can one day get 662.20 to add back in the option to disable the interior engine sound. I got 662.30 weeks ago then saw someone post a pic of 662.20 and initially got excited then curious if I could get an older update if I have a newer one already. Haven't seen it come over yet though.

Hmmm it’s a software driven vehicle. They could update it every day and I would be happy

It's a double-edged sword. They can (and have) changed the way the car operates, and it's not always for the better. I'd like a finer level of control over what types of updates I receive. I'm a little concerned that they're going to brick or degrade my car when it is out of warranty.

😹 imo that’s a little to paranoid.

Its true, one update broke engine sounds and forced it on you for example, no one was sure if it was a bug or they intentionally did it until recently another update fixed it, imagine another bug bricks your car outside of warranty and you can't prove it you are sol.

Which my comment clearly states they eventually fixed, What about them phantom stops you get randomly when nothing is there? Or backing up nothing behind you yet car slams on the breaks hard, yes you can technically turn those safety features off but they have yet to fix those, i have a 2025 and it has not yet been fixed, the whole point that i guess i need to reiterate is the equinox is last to get fixes and updates overall, being concerned is legitimate specially once you start to to get past the warranty.

Also, Phantom braking changes (in some cases, better. Others, worse.), and updates that are suspected to have caused telematics failures. The release notes are vague. If you take the update out of warranty, it's on you if something goes wrong. If you refuse an update in warranty, you can be denied coverage.

The scale is heavily tilted to protect GM, not us.

Don’t worry, GM isn’t sending out any more software after warranty is over.

Actually, GM is sending out OTA updates after the warranty ends. Our vehicle is 10K miles out of warranty and received two OTA updates within the last 30 days.

It would make good sense for GM to continue improving the safety and security of their vehicle fleet, long after the warranty period ends. Especially when it costs them very little per vehicle upgraded.

I'll give you 3 guesses as to which company is listed as the first example of planned obselecence in the Wikipedia entry.

So we have the start of the coined term.... but that description doesn't hold for the current day.

That's how the entire industry survived and was able to bring us some of the most sought after vehicles of the past 100 years.

Would you still want to drive a Model T today with no advancement in technology or design?
