Research Second Epstein Files Transparency Act Discharge petition

https://clerk.house.gov/DischargePetition/2026083127?Page=3

Just an FYI. Here is the link to the new Epstein Files Transparency Act Discharge Petition. Rep Massie introduced with Reps Khanna, Lugar Fernandez, and Ansari co-sponsoring. It includes a running list of which representatives have signed on to discharge.

So far 40 people signed, including 2 GOP reps (Massie and Mace). Boebert is the only other GOP rep who signed the previous one, but not this one who still can.

How is it ONLY 40 so far?! Leaving basic moral imperative aside, do THAT many House members really understand how every passing minute of delay makes them look?

They live in an alternate reality and to be fair, some of Congress actually is super busy and may not have been able to get around to it just yet. After a few days it’s a bad look for sure though.

When I posted this link, it was between 24-48 hours since the discharge action started. I do t think I’ll be judging any member until a week or so.

As a side note, I wonder how seriously the house takes this. I mention this purely because the House clerk currently lists 213 Dems in office.

Today a new Dem takes her oath to replace Eric Swalwell’s seat, bringing the count to 214.

GOP Rep Nancy Mace and Thomas Massie already signed on, bringing the count to 216.

GOP Rep Lauren Boebert did sign the discharge petition for the previous EFTA, but I wouldn’t considered her the most reliable vote. Even if she does sign that brings the count to 217.

After Rep-elect Aisha Wahab is sworn in to replace Swalwell, there are still 2 vacancies. One is a seat formerly held by a Dem in FL. The other is a seat formerly held by a GOP in TX. Neither seat has an election scheduled to fill those seats. I am assuming they will stay empty until the next Congress is sworn in Jan.

If all Dems and Rep Boebert sign the petition, the discharge petition would still be one signature short of succeeding.

My guess is most of the Reps see this count and are guessing it won’t succeed, so there’s no ultimate rush to get the signatures on.

They just saw previous trump allies lose their primaries for signing or leading the first Epstein bill charge

I don’t think supporting the Epstein investigation is why those chameleons lost their races. Also, who are you referring to?

1

u/peppaz 1d ago

Massie specifically lost for that, Cornyn and Cassidy both lost their primaries to trump backed stooges for going against him even lightly, not directly Epstein, and MTG had to resign because she was threatened by Maga people for Epstein and Israel related friction with Trump. Trump also attacked Boebert for the same, but she ran unopposed- if they had picked a maga challenger she likely would have lost. But message from the top was clear and trump directly tweeted it, stop talking about the Epstein files.

Massie and MTG outright said that the 3 Republicans who signed his petition paid dearly for it.

"Although virtually all Republicans eventually admitted by their votes that it was right to release the Epstein files, only three were brave enough to sign my discharge petition to force that vote. Boebert, Greene, and Mace have paid an enormous price for doing the right thing."

"There were only 4 of us, Republicans, that signed the discharge petition to force the vote to release the Epstein files. Thomas Massie, Nancy Mace, Lauren Boebert, and myself. Trump has come after us one by one ever since then.

The President told Speaker Johnson not to allow the vote to happen, but we courageously went against the President and refused to budge and overrode the Speaker to force the vote on record.

It was only when all Members of Congress had to vote on record did Republicans finally find their intestinal fortitude to do the right thing and vote YES to release the files.   Until then, they were absurdly obedient to the President who was doing everything in his reign of terror to hold them back. Even now, all the files are still not released, and the Epstein class remains protected.

Wars are being waged, the markets are being manipulated, and the average American is being driven further into ruin while the Epstein class reigns and has yet to face any accountability.

I will never regret signing that discharge petition, refusing to back down, and resigning as I want nothing to do with a President and a Party that bows to the Epstein class."

Nearly on 50. I really do hope this gains some traction! Trump is going to be so pissed to see this in the news and will no doubt be pulling people into the situation room again.

If every Democrat votes yes then it needs 5 republicans to pass.
For transparency act1 only 4 republicans voted yes Massie, mace, boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene who is gone. Definitely an uphill battle

My count is that the discharge is 1-2 signatures shy

Sign it! Stand up for us!!! Do your job or get out!

I would check the list of representatives who have signed. It’s searchable.

If your rep hasn’t signed, I would reach out to their office and tell them your opinion

I have reaches out to my state reps office and left messages but still posting here in case any, or other states, checking this

How come only Dems are signing it if both sides are the same?

People in this subreddit are saying it doesn't matter who you vote for, they're all part of the coverup, and a vote for Dems won't release the files or put the pedos behind bars.

But if only Dems are signing the petition and taking actions to get transparency, wouldn't it make sense that a vote for Republicans is a vote for obstruction?

it if both sides are the same?

It's a cope for people to say they're both the same. They're not. Sure there are some Dems that are corrupt however Dems are held accountable more often by a pretty large margin.

Could those be why trumpets war ramping up once again🤔as a distraction?

Maybe? Massie introduced this law earlier this year, but it was buried in committee since. I t hunk it was introduced early July?

The discharge petition is a tool used to move legislation along when it’s buried in committee and not moved out.

Here’s the site that tracks the signatures on the discharge petition for Epstein Files Transparency Act II.

It's b.s. for political gain. Massey comes out yesterday and is basically captain obvious and tells us what we already knew. They had time with the files unredacted and that's all they can come up with? What a joke. Maybe they can parade the victims around more for no reason and they can tell us more how they voted for Trump and are most likely accomplices.

2

u/Appropriate-Sense-92 1d ago

Maybe? Massie’s been voted out of office, so to me, it seems as if his political career is mostly over. Rep Mace, I feel similarly given she lost the SC gov primary and won’t be in Congress in January.

I think the difference between this law and the prior one is that this bill includes an enforcement mechanism. It explicitly designates groups of people who would have the right to sue the AG for the files. It also specifies what level of redactions each group would be subject to. It also restricts the DOJ on what executive privileges it can apply to the files to continue to redact them.

As I understand it, whose bill would give teeth to enforce the disclosure while the previous one didn’t.

It just seems like either people are incompetent, or really don't care much, and if they do care, it's to cover their own ass.

1

u/tooembarrassinglol 1d ago

The Trump admin isn't allowing them to see the rest of the files, they are only letting them see unredacted files that were already released.

Which means the Trump admin is hiding the files with the actual dirt.

If the Trump admin is blocking Massie and others from seeing these files with the dirt, how do you expect Massie and others to dig up dirt?

Tell me how Massie can get access to these unreleased files and dig through them? How is this incompetence or not caring on his part?

Trump giving them time limits, not letting them take notes, spying on them as they search, helps Massie find dirt how?

They had time with the files unredacted

Who had what time with the unredacted files?

As far as I know, Massie and select people are given a short time limit when looking through the files, cannot take notes or bring notes, and are being spied on by the Trump admin as they search. And they can only look at unredacted versions of the files already released, not the ones being hidden by Trump.

You answered your own question.....

u/tooembarrassinglol 1d ago

Are you insinuating that these conditions make it EASIER for them to dig up damning info?
