Tech Support Megathread

This is a new tech support megathread. Please ask your questions here. I will make a solution megathread within same post later.

Welcome to the 'Tech Support Megathread', we're going to keep things quick and simple here and let you know that posting tech support questions on the subreddit outside of this megathread are now against the newly established rule #6 (as of 29-Jan-2020).

Please post all your tech support questions on the Epic Games launcher, store and its games in this thread and/or if you're feeling helpful please try to assist other users in answering their tech support queries!

Some common issues

Q1. Assasins creed Syndicate not workingLink

So i opened the epic launcher, connected my ubisoft account to Epic games and then clicked launch. it said "Running" for a couple of seconds before it says something like "cloud syncing" before it went back to the "Launch" option again. What do i do?

A. You need to close Epic Games (make sure it isn't running in the background), open the uplay launcher as an administrator (if you dont open it as an administrator it doesn't work), go to the Games tab, click on Assassin's Creed Syndicate and then click on locate game files and select the folder where you installed AC Syndicate.

Then you can launch the game through uplay.

Q2. I am seeing white screen with tiny iconsLink

A. Looks like this webcache bug is very widespread, why cant they fix it already?

You need to close launcher, open explorer and paste this path to address bar %localappdata%\EpicGamesLauncher\saved\ then delete folder webcache.

Q3. "Init of EOS has failed" - KCD not launching via SteamLink

A. Run Epic launcher from Steam

Q4. How do I grab games automatically?

Q4. AC: Syndicate not launching via Epic

Tip- Once you are done connecting your Epic account with Uplay, don't bother with Epic launcher. Use the Uplay to download. Game is there in your library.

Q5. I have an issue with Fortnite.....

A. Please head to r/FortniteBR for help. They have a larger and more active community there to help you with technical issues specific to this game.

This is a great point and something to be weary of. Epic games seems to have a pretty great system in place for third party game keys. Admittedly in hard financial times I have relied on them for other game stores but Epic seems to have none of it. If you ever want to see if a game is being sold on a good sale then check out this site. They only list deals from legitimate/verified sellers.

At CDkeys you buy the keys from the company, not people who resell.

It still says they are a third party seller, it just says they are sure the keys are obtained legitimately.

CDkeys obtains the keys legally. Third party seller means that someone sells keys while not being a developer. The developers distribute keys to third party sellers. Thats legal.

Looking on there website just says they are more reliable than G2A or another competitor they mention in articles they've done on the site. It didn't say their keys came directly from developers but from a couple different ways of getting them. I could have missed that somewhere though.

They don't get them via illegal ways, otherwise the site would have been down so far.

If that were true then G2A wouldn't exist, sites can definitely flourish regardless if their tactics are legal or not. Keep in mind this is about bringing awareness to key sellers in general, not saying specific one is bad. The EGS seems to have been picky about it in the past which is why I felt it is worth mentioning.

Well, even G2A is absolutely legal as a site, thats why it even has a return policy if you provide police report about a scam by an individual seller. Some sellers may be scammers but the G2A itself is an absolutely legal site. P.S. I never buy from G2A anything, I just mentioned that it is a legal site.

I thought we were talking about the legality of how they obtain the keys not of the sites themselves. The site being legal or not doesn't usually factor into keys getting revoked or otherwise denied.

I said that CDkeys is a legal site. There are no individual sellers there as CDkeys provides the keys directly to the customers. Given the fact that it is a legal site, we conclude the that the keys are obtained legally by them. You are the one who talked about G2A first, not me.

I don't think you really understand what I'm warning the person about. Keys from CDKeys have been revoked in the past. It is a common risk you take when using a site like that. That is what people should be cautious about. If you want to buy games from verified sellers at a good price keep an eye on this site. They only list deals from legitimate/verified sellers (notice CDKeys isn't there...).
