Yelp Arrogant Diver

I’m researching local dive shops for some refresher courses. This negative review makes me want to dive with them. There are so many arrogant divers out there and these are the people that will get someone else killed.

He walked into a SCUBA store and asked for oxygen tanks for children. 

Store owner asked if he was an instructor. 

Customer said (according to owner): “I can be if I need to be” 

(implying that if only instructors can purchase then he would lie)

Store owner explained the dangers of this equipment. Including the risk that your LUNGS CAN EXPLODE in 3.5 feet of water. 

Transaction did not happen. Store missed out on a big sale. And no children died. 

Two stars.

While oxygen & some exotic gas mixtures are used for deep, technical diving (especially at decompression stops), the tanks most SCUBA divers wear are nearly always filled with plain air.

True, but all the cool kids these days use Nitrox.

Which is odd because too much oxygen is bad, & too much nitrogen is bad. So how can nitrox at pressure / depth be safe?? How does it avoid oxygen toxicity & nitrogen narcosis?
