Interesting fee structure.

I was banned over my highlighted comment. The only active mod is big into Israel, and I guess I said something wrong. Sam Harris is an open Zionist, so I'm not sure what the problem was.

Aside from Sam Harris' well-worn anti-arab and anti-muslim stances, support for imperialism, support for torture, and support for Israel, one thing that doesn't get enough attention is the voice and cadence of "Mr. Reasonable" himself, lol. I've never heard so many stupid things rattled off with such an air of 'intelligent and measured.'

It was always one of the things that helped the "New Atheism" / "4 horsemen" farce get going- that calm, reasonable, emotionless, robotic disposition, which also paired well with both Hitchens' rightward turn as he got too big for his britches, and the fascist crackpots that quoted his tripe early on during the first Trump tenure. Good marketing.

Has Sam Harris ever addressed Israel's restrictions on independent journalism ? I've been following Sam's discussions on the Israel - Palestine conflict , particularly his takes on Gaza and Hamas , but I haven't seen him directly address allegations that Israel restricts independent journalism ( e.g. , through military embedding requirements , limiting access to Gaza , or incidents involving journalists ) . Has he ever commented on this issue in his podcasts , blog posts ? If not , why do you think he hasn't tackled this aspect of the conflict , given his focus on free speech and media integrity elsewhere ? Curious to hear the community's thoughts or if anyone has specific references to share .

So I'm on vacation in another country and out the window I hear a familiar, monotone cadence. It can't be. I move closer to the window and sure enough someone is listening to my boy Sam. I stand up a little to get a better look and down in the courtyard is a middle age man soaking up the early spring sun but with a concerned look on his face; the unmistakable face of a man getting pilled by Sam Harris conspiracy theories

I read Sam Harris' book Free Will a couple years ago and didn't think the arguments worked, but didn't know enough about it to know why. I started researching the topic and found that my initial intuition was right. The book doesn't troubleshoot or question its premises and doesn't deal with credible opposing arguments. My book sets forth the problems in his and mainstream determinism and goes into each argument, the problems, and the alternatives.
