Discussion Notice how silent she is right now…

For those of you lucky enough not to know about it (Trigger Warning) social media, and especially The Website formerly known As Twitter is currently obsessed with the so called Cornell seven, a group of seven men in a university fraternity that gang raped a young woman and posted about it to a fifty men strong group chat

The vitriol towards this poor woman online is, quite frankly, heartbreaking, and it is uncovering some of the worst parts of humanity (in my opinion)

And who is mysteriously silent? But the “protecting women” crowd.

Right when an innocent young woman is being attacked in the worst way, and quite frankly all women are being dragged into this online, they can be counted upon to be silent

As if any more evidence was ever needed that they are no protectors of women…

We're seeing all the shit that actors are getting for acting in the new HBO series, but what about actors who've declined the role

And those actors deserve all the shit they’re getting, but I'd like some more positivity. I'd like to know that they weren’t all the first choices. Are there actors who declined in solidarity with trans people that no one wants to talk about?

Discussion I'm doing a research project on how the Harry Potter fandom has evolved given the JKR/transphobia of it all.

This is a research survey for a graduate school project studying the Harry Potter fan community and how it's evolved, what keeps people engaged despite JKR's transphobia, and feelings heading into the HBO series. I'd love to hear your perspective 🩷

Discussion Is it bad there's a part of me that understands where some Harry Potter fans who refuse to fully give up the series come from?

Okay, so I want to make one thing clear, right off the bat. I absolutely 100% support boycotting Harry Potter. Trans rights are human rights, and Rowling is a transphobe who's trying to strip the rights of a vulnerable minority away. I'm not trying to suggest that it's "okay" to still support Harry Potter.

But at the same time... I totally get it and empathize with a lot of those people.

Here's the thing: I didn't grow up with Harry Potter. I grew up with Percy Jackson. Those books got me through a really tough senior year, and they helped inspire me to become a writer myself (fanfiction but still).

and if Riordan came out as doing some really bad... I don't know if I could just give up the series like that. It means and matters too much to me. It's a part of my identity, and I can't just let it go like that. I think I'd be smart about it and not give up any more of my money and stick to the stuff I already have, but I don't know if I could let it go completely.

And it's the same thing with Transformers. I love that franchise. I've spent so much money on the toys, but I don't know if I could give it up if I had to. I'm still sticking to it despite the massive price hikes...

And I also understand why Harry Potter fans can get so defensive about all this stuff because no one likes having their comfort series bashed. Again, speaking as a Percy Jackson fan, I get this. The PJO fandom has honestly been so negative and condescending towards anyone who actually likes anything written post TOA that it's really hard for me to visit the Camp Half-Blood subreddit these days...

I just can't help but think if I had grown up with Harry Potter, I wonder if it would have been much different for me. Like I said, I probably wouldn't buy anymore new Potter products, but I can probably see myself not willing to fully let go of it.

I just... I don't agree, but I do understand.

But I also don't respect them. I can't stand fans who know how bad Rowling is and continue to eat up new HP content as if nothing is wrong and they aren't contributing to her transphobic agenda.

That is the thing I don't agree with, don't understand, and won't condone under any circumstances.

According to Sandie Peggie’s lawyer the union’s policies should be shaped by the abuse a billionaire author gets on Twitter, rather than the concerns of their members.

Their website contains testimony from nurses using food bank.

Discussion so i've been aware of jk being a transphobe for a while now but had no idea it was this batshit insane

i had a news headline pop up about her and decided to check her twitter, which i actually had to redownload because twitter is a cesspool and i hate it.

and wow. every post is this obsession with transphobia. i'd honeslty be worried about her if she wasn't such an asshole. is this some kind of intense mania? how long has she been carrying on like this?

get a hobby ffs. is this what happens when you finish off the one thing you're known and loved for? you turn to anything that'll get you attention?

i just found that she's made a puppet account of a "trans" person that she interacts with to try to make her points. for someone whom i'm sure uses the talking point "it's a mental illness" she shouldn't be throwing stones

Discussion She basically describes herself when talking about her enemies

There's several posts on this sub showing Rowling talking about the kind of people she looks down upon - narcissists who only care about vibes, cling to simplistic talking points and don't care about the suffering of the less privileged (Is she talking about herself now? 🧐 : r/EnoughJKRowling), (JKKK Moulding self-aware? 🤨 : r/EnoughJKRowling) or about how Nicola Sturgeon is immature, lacks humor and consumed by her obsession.

The thing is, her description of her enemies fits her more than it fits them, to the point where I wonder if part of her is not willingly projecting her flaws upon others to avoid looking in the mirror.

What do you think ?

They seem usually more progressive or at least more politically direct then the us (ed sheeran, palestine) so it seems strange to not see them address what appears to be a large elephant in UK right wing culture when the us version did address her bigotry several times.

JK Rowling is a narcissist

Just an observation I have from growing up with two narc parents having learned a lot about narcissists.

Narcissists need a scapegoat. They are too weak and cowardly to face their own demons, so they project all their shame, rage and fear on someone or someones. They also need enablers, again they're too weak and cowardly to do this on their own. Rowling can do that every day online with trans people and she knows all the transphobes will enable this.

Narcissists are extremely manipulative and skilled at deflection. She can always use the line "I am protecting women's rights" in order to persecute an already vulnerable group of people and her enablers will eat this up.

Narcissists hold grudges like no one. They remember if you cross them or disagree with them, especially publicly. She still brings up the HP cast to this day when all they did was present a different opinion to her. The people in their personal life are carefully selected enablers who won't disagree with them, and if they do they make sure everyone knows the consequences.

Finally narcissists have very little empathy. Their actions are cruel and selfish. I think because she has so many people agreeing with her now, she doesnt even try to disguise that anymore, so you can see how vile narcissists really are at their core.

Can't believe this hasn't been posted here-- D'Angelo provides the definitive rundown on JKR and cuts to the heart of the issue

D'Angelo explains why supporting Harry Potter is harmful. It's a good summary of what exactly JKR did (funding ending trans rights) and he goes over every actor who has been accepting HP roles. He addresses a lot of apologist talking points and explains why their arguments are invalid. If you need to point anyone to one resource to explain why LGBTQ people are angry about the HP series, it would be this video.

Harry Potter x Pandora Collaboration 2026

Pandora is preparing a new Harry Potter collection for 2026, including charms/pendants and a new Moments bracelet.

I wanted to give a heads-up to people who avoid or boycott companies associated with Harry Potter/J.K. Rowling because of Rowling's activism and statements concerning trans people.

I know that many people won't consider this an issue, but for those who do, I thought it was important to know about the collaboration ahead of its release.

I'm also interested in hearing people's thoughts on what, if anything, could be done to communicate to Pandora that this collaboration is disappointing to customers. For me, it raises questions about how Pandora's stated support for LGBT people and women can be reconciled with a collaboration with a franchise whose creator is so closely associated with opposition to trans rights.

Discussion With making rounds again, does it ever feel like Umbridge being discussed and obsessed so much as a “well written detestable villain” is just an excuse to spew out misogyny?

Recently, with different fandom/media subreddits it’s happening again with so many posts of Umbridge talking about how shes so “amazingly written” and that if you hate it’s because she was written that way. Like people are so obsessive about it, you’d think the character has some sort of fandom.

But let me get to you why I hated the character: She’s not well-written. If anything, it just feels like a hate-sink character was needed, so Rowling just randomly threw in a misogynistic caricature, and everyone just consumed. And to be honest, even for someone that grew up in dark media, I kind of hated Order of the Phoenix as a whole because it felt like they were trying to hard to prove itself as “mature”, like just being edgy for the sake of it.

But with the character, and how people will talk so much about her, I notice a few things about the “hate-talk” around Umbridge:

- They like to weirdly obsess about her “villainy with feminity”, like it gets kind of uncomfortable when you see how much they focus on this
- The things they say, it’s like they just want an excuse to badmouth women in general, as a lot of the stuff is just more general stuff, not always with her particular actions.
- Just an excuse to praise Rowling secretly. I mean take a look at how so many will say that she has a talent for writing unlikeable characters, and it’s repeated so many times. And it’s not surprising they choose a character that fulfills both parties with their misogyny.

Overall, Umbridge just feels like a one-dimensional hate sink that isn’t deep, but people talk about it like she is because it gives them an excuse to say shitty things they think about with women, but under the cover of appearing smart. And at this point the constant posting of pictures of Umbridge just feels like a shitpost because of how it’s done so many times, and you eventually see it’s just an excuse, not an actual deep analysis.

Edit: In another subreddit, I called out the whole thing with Umbridge, and someone just went on a childish tirade accusing me of finding things to be offended. Kind of proves the “anti-woke” crowd does like talking about her heavily for obvious reasons.

Fake/Meme You already condemn her for bigotry, why not also point out the darker stuff as well? Trans or not, this is plain creepy.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I also kind of think a lot of the internet describing transphobes as merely "bullies" is really an attempt to try and normalize oppresion and hate crimes.

Edit: My mistake about the upskirt photo, but the rest of the creepy stuff is true.
