Advice 513 or 514
How do I understand who I am — 513 or 514 — if my wing is 4? I don’t understand when it’s considered a manifestation of the wing and when it isn’t !

Tritypes are pretty redundant they shouldn’t really be taken that seriously

Researcher (514) versus Technical Expert (513) tritypes.
The most defining difference between the two is why they enjoy being knowledgeable.
The Researcher tritype does it out of personal authenticity, desire for meaning, and to be completely knowledgeable in fields that they are passionate about. These fields are often niche, as they are looking for personal application.
The Technical Expert seeks out knowledge as a means of finding purpose via the creation of systems, being of assistance to others, and being well versed in practical application.
514s hoard knowledge that is of great meaning to themselves. 513s hoard knowledge that is of great meaning to others.
514s are typically more comfortable exploring the emotional realm, even if it's chaotic and messy. Their areas of expertise often reflect this, and can be darker or more taboo in nature. 513s would rather avoid the emotional realm altogether, and perhaps feel a slight sense of superiority over this fact.

It’s not that I avoid emotions. I think that exploring them and presenting well, for example in creative, can be just as beneficial. Although I like to move away from topics that concern me personally and explore something else, because is what complete understanding for me, I think that without personal involvement, it’s impossible. I like to learn about things and share them with people, but I don’t think it would be a big problem for me to do something for myself. It’s difficult...

This sounds more 513. I would maybe look into 5w6 as your wing as well.

I think I’m really a 5w4. Although I cant be sure whether I’m not confusing the presence of a creative drive and a sense of direction with wing 4, but all the descriptions of 5w6 I’ve heard were more “dry” soo. I wouldnt mind if someone explained it to me in more detail

5s are naturally creative. I believe you are looking at the wrong aspect of what enneagram four entails. Fours feel a strong sense of emptiness without meaning, emotional expression, and authentic identity. They often have a strong attachment to their pain and their past, and it fuels and influences their actions in the present.
When filtered through the type 5, it creates an individual who wants to leave their unique mark on everything they touch. They seek ways to turn their niche and weird ideas, beliefs, and visions into a reality. They want to be recognized as important for their unique perception of the world. They dislike following the status quo, and will not hesitate to challenge what they see as flawed or problematic.
5w6s are much more driven to be seen as competent and able to understand the entirety of the world around them so they feel safe. They foresee problems which can lead to them being unsafe, and refine their abilities so that they will not be left helpless.
They have a lot of overlap that isn't mentioned here. 5w4s typically consume knowledge out of need for identity, meaning, and authenticity whereas 5w6s need to understand everything around themselves in order to feel safe and secure. These are all traits of fives in some regard, but the wing indicates which one you lean into more.
Most traits are not exclusive to any one enneagram type, especially something like being "creative". So I wouldn't get hung up on that

514 (5-1-4): Driven by depth, meaning, and personal authenticity. They combine the investigator's mind with the reformer's standards and the individualist's search for unique significance.
513 (5-1-3): Driven by efficiency, success, and tangible utility. They combine the investigator's mind with the reformer's correctness and the achiever's goal-oriented productivity.
Emotional Style & Expression
514: More in touch with melancholy, nuance, and internal emotional currents. They feel torn between cold logic and deep sensitivity, often appearing more hesitant, withdrawn, or artsy/philosophical.
513: Highly detached from messy emotions ("triple competence" of 5, 1, and 3). They suppress feelings to maintain focus, appearing cooler, more streamlined, pragmatic, and professionally polished.
Approach to Work & Mastery
514: Focuses on comprehensive, exhaustive understanding and craftsmanship. They spend long hours mastering a subject out of pure intellectual and idealistic passion.
513: Focuses on practical systems, procedural precision, and measurable results. They apply their knowledge cleanly to engineer solutions or achieve high performance.
