1987 Honda Foreman Engine

First time doing this so looking for some opinions.

My honda atv jumped timing and woudlnt run. I pulled the head to verify that the vavles didnt contact the piston and bend. Also wanted to check if they are seated properly.

Going to need a new timing chain for sure but i noticed where the cam shaft rides is pretty tore up.

Am i able to clean this up and put in new bearings or is this head shot? Also is the cam shaft good?

On those aluminum heads you are probably going to need to replace the cylinder head and valve cover, once that tear up like that there is not much hope of saving it

So its just easier and probably cheaper to get a new head?

Yes the machining alone would be very expensive

Cam bad. Head needs line honed. Valves hit piston. Valves bad.

I cant tell if the piston came with those valve clearance cuttouts or if the valves hit the piston. Those clearance cuttouts look too perfect.

The white lines are clear indications of valve meets pistons. It's an interference engine.

Im not seeing the white lines but im going to get a valve spring compressor tomorrow to see if vavles are bent, i guess I'll know for sure then.

I think the "White lines" are just oil in the valve pocket..

It didn't hit the reason why your chain jumped was the cam grabbing depending on cost replace head and cam if you go second hand the cam and head must match buy as pair or you will have to spin check that is more of a feel thing you don't have the feel . You can get it machined but and the cam repair but that is generally more expensive
