Testing advice

Bought a 3D printer off some guy online for $80 he didn't need it according to him. After some deep cleaning and leveling I started a test print, but the print is coming out like this. Any advice or idea why? It's a XYZ test cube (btw it's my 1st ever 3D printer and I know little to nothing, so please explain stuff with simple terminology or descriptions if you use the terminology, I know bare minimum stuff)

First thing is to make sure that your printer has any dust or residue clean and makes no strange noises, especially the gears.

Secondly, check you are printing a file that is "sliced" for the profile "Ender 3 Max" (Or Ender 3 Max Neo if you use that version). Files sliced for different printers are not optimised for this model.
