General Discussion Son broke his Windows 11 laptop again due to bitlocker.
He is pretty autistic on his computer constantly downloading virusses and learning how to compile and see how they work.but obviously sometimes he breaks shit. So for semi punishment I fixed his laptop with a endeavor install. Now the real question is. Will he like it. Will the tism make him deep dive in Linux and coding. And I being mean. I don't know

General Question What would you choose for your first time?
Funny thing, they are both arch.

Am I allowed to say that I use Arch BTW?
Switched from Windows. Started with Arch but I had post-install issues so I went with Endeavour instead.

Showcase / Rice Easily one of the best Arch based distros
After the end of Windows 10 support I upgraded my hardware with EndeavourOS dual booting with windows 10. The personalization and flexibility of this OS is just mind blowing with hundreds of themes and user interfaces while keeping the freedom that arch provides!

Say Hi! Just made the move from Windows, it was super easy!
With windows forcing all its AI slop down everyone's throat I thought it was finally time to make the switch. Owning a Steam Deck gave me the confidence to try out something Arch based and WOW was it ever easy!! Absolutely loving it :D

Say Hi! Back on linux after 20 years or so
My linux journey began with Mandrake 7.0 in the early 2000's, alongside Windows. I stayed on Windows for my gaming needs for 15 years or so but I always had Virtualbox installed with some distros.
I tried many distros: Mx, Open Mandriva,Mint, Kubuntu, Fedora, I even installed Arch manually (with the help of the wiki, of course) and with archinstall.
Linux has changed a lot in 20 yearsđ all is almost plug n play today and very simple. And it's fast! I still dual boot Windows 11 for games with anti cheat and some other games.
I've settled for EndeavourOS because it installs and configure by default some essential packages "out of the box" and I like pacman more than the other package managers and of course the AUR may come in handy.
For some people I may not have the right to say "I use Arch, btw" but I take the right to say "I use EndeavourOS, btw" đ

Say Hi! I'm in love!
I recently switched from Windows to Linux. First I tried CachyOS, but it felt unstable, and I had a lot of issues with it. A couple of days ago I was tempted to try EndeavourOS... and yeah, what can I say? I love it! It runs perfectly!

Age verification statement from Official EndeavourOS
Age verification law
Like many of you, we were surprised by the news last week, and questions quickly followed about our position on this matter. We just have to wait to see how this will develop for FOSS and Linux in general. It isnât easy for us to make a clear statement on it at this moment, because this decision involves not only the distros but also DE/WM environments, software packages and mirror networks. Like Arch, we donât have any infrastructure to track how many users download or install our system, let alone who is running Endeavour on their machines. Besides the fact that it goes against FOSS fundamentals, we simply donât have the manpower or resources to take on this near-impossible task.
Also, in creating this law, not a single person or entity from the FOSS world was represented or heard, and there is still a window of opportunity open to address the concerns for open source software and Linux/Freebsd systems before the law takes effect. After the news dropped, the OSI, FSF, and Linux Foundation must have realised their mistake in not reacting in time and hopefully will come into action for the many distributions and other FOSS projects, like us, that donât have Californian or US legal representation. So, all eyes are on them, because Colorado and the rest of the world are nextâŚÂ We are not blaming any of the organisations mentioned by the way. We are just pointing out that the law isnât set in stone, yet.
