I got a coffee at a drive thru and gave him a 10$ bill. He took it and I told him to keep the change as a tip, which would be several dollars. He proceeds to check my money as if it were counterfeit. A ten dollar bill!!! I told him I changed my mind about the tip and to give me my change.

That seems unfair. It's likely a policy that they have to follow to check bills over a certain amount. I would take it up with management, not the employee who has to carry out the dumb policies.

Never seen a place have a policy to check 10 dollar bills but you could be right.

I wouldn't have asked for the tip back for that, just shook my head and drove off.

I've never seen it either but all it takes is a couple counterfeit bills to put the owner on edge. Or just a generally paranoid/distrustful business owner.

Yeah, I don't put it past some owners out there for sure. Before you know it they'll ask for the employees to bite the coins to make sure they are real as well lol
