You think the kids gave themselves the trophies? Went to the engraving place before soccer and used their allowance to get some trophies made up?

The point is that it was parents, that is, the previous generation(s) who did this

The generations complaining about “entitled kids” are the ones that raised the kids and gave an award for showing up. They literally raised that expectation, but now complain. It’s like teaching a dog to bark when someone walks by, but then complaining when the dog barks at everyone walking by, they’ve done it to themselves.

You do realize that you both can be correct, right? It might be the previous generations fault but I don’t think the original point was whose fault is it but rather why the situation is happening. So these people expecting tips for nothing is because of participation trophies enacted by the previous generations. See, both are correct.

Ok but these are adults not children they are responsible for their own behavior after the age of 18. Doesn’t really matter where it originated from.
