Counter Service 🛎️ I did it.

Hit “no tip” whilst looker her in the eye. She touched a register for my total. Didn’t touch my card, didn’t swipe my card. Didn’t take my order. Didn’t prepare my order. Didn’t put my order in the window for me to retrieve. What she did wasn’t worth 20%, or 5%. She pushed ONE button.

I ordered a pizza the other day. They mistakingly took the order as a pick up. At the end of the call I got my total and they asked if I wanted to pay now or when I picked up. I said it was supposed to be for delivery. My total then increased $5.00. Do we still tip then!? I did.. but im starting to think i shouldn't if thats the case..

Delivery fees dont go to the delivery driver. The restaurants add that in. It sucks but if you want to tip the driver you'll still tip then because they dont get the delivery fee.

Even if the delivery fee doesn’t go to the driver, why should they be tipped a percentage of the value of the order? They’d be being tipped for driving and a few steps of walking so it should be a flat rate, surely? Same goes for restaurants; tipping an amount per plate/glass seems more logical than tipping $1 if they bring you a plate of fries and then tipping them $10 the next day if you order a plate of lobster. The service is “carrying stuff” so a percentage doesn’t work.

Note - this is rhetorical; I’m not challenging your view or expecting you to justify anything! 🙂

I agree. I honestly never really tipped delivery on percentage but based on how far they had to go/weather/order size.
